First I use MMM as a base for mods then added TDW's 7.10 and the latest FX and IRAI.

Now my Questions
Been playing Coastal waters campaign. Sank a couple of freigthers using Deck gun. Sent the crew to the deck gun and instructed them to engage but they did not, so manned the gun myself. The water was pretty calm. What are the parameters required to get the crew to do their job ?

When the boat sustains damage ? It seems all my officers got wounded. Some compartments were at 0% so I assume they were not repairable, had my little hammer going on the fore battery, but it was slow going. Is their a way to treat the officers wounds to get back repair options because they were greyed out ? What is the best procedure to save the boat ?

IMO, you should use Reworked Morale and Abilities mod by Rongel!

This is an awesome mod in wich you'll be able to give points to the hydro guy to act like a medic. The more points the faster he will solve wounds.
Be aware you can't activate it anywhere! There is a special order for it to work properly (after FX, NewUIs, IRAI, OHII).
+ Rongel solved the torpedo speed not recognised by TDC when giving more points...

For deck gun, sea has to be very calm.
Or order the watch officer to man the deck gun, go take it yourself, and wait between waves to be able to move it a little!
Other turn around is to point your sub bow right toward the boat! lol
