Had an odd little rash of problems on what was a quite smooth running SHIII installation (not mod related, they were reproducible on a clean installation on the loading screen) and finally seem to have them under control. Turned out to be a corrupt virus scanner upate. Still some oddness but very playable now.
Anyway, moving on:
What I'm seeing is just occasional graphical oddness, some examples would be:
- The conning tower unit "logo?" stretched all the way across the tower, for example a skull and crossbones with the skull huge and centered at the front of the tower. Kind of cool and piratey looking IMO, but a pretty obvious glitch. I think this is Superturms v6 but I've not seen the issue reported, so I'm assuming that something in my mix is causing this.
- A ship with dazzle paint that I saw today, it looked awesome except for one panel that was, for lack of a better word moving like I'd imagine things would on LSD. The rest of the ship was fine, just one panel.
- A few others, but it is always something odd and just out of place. A persistent "ring" effect if I look certain directions with the light a certain way, like looking astern with the moon overhead I'll see very clearly but also have a very sudden ( shape instead of a smooth blend from light to dark.
Troubleshooting:
Clean install of SH3 + 4GB patch + GWX, updated video drivers, I have a WS laptop, but I run 1024 x 768 in game and matching resolutions between desktop and game doesn't help. The LT itself handles the game fine, 8GB Ram with 2.1GHz I7, load time with the following mods is just a couple of minutes.
Here is the soup recipe:
SH3 Commander.
JSGME installed mods:
GWX - Alternative Flotillas
GWX - English Nav Map and Grid Refs
TheDarkWraith_Ship_Plane_Fire_Damage_v1_4_SH3
Sober's Smoke
GWX - Late War Sensors Snorkel Antennas
GWX - Integrated Orders
GWX - No Medals on Crew
Torpedo damage Final ver2.0
Aces' Super Turms v6 for GWX
MaGui F
Flags_enlighten
M.E.P v3
MEP v3 VisualSensors for gwx3
GWX - Alternate Loadscreen - Full Circle
GWX - Enhanced Damage Effects
GWX - Lite Harbor Traffic
Merchant_Fleet_Mod_3.2
Thomsen's Sound Pack V3.2cg
GWX - Main movie - 'Das Boot'
Any recommendations to start sorting this out?
