Added ships to appear in museum

What ship files need to be added in order for a ship to appear in the museum? If I change a ship's equipment or guns in their files, I like to look at the changes on the ship in the museum. I was told a lot of ships in mods only have enough files added for them to appear in a scenario or campaign.

Don't bother with the museum. If you're making changes to a particular ship make a single mission with said ship in it. It's much faster to load the single mission then it is to load the museum.
