Does anyone know how I can import units from SH4 into SH5? Thanks.

Thank you very much! I'm hoping to get the midget sub from SH4 into 5 as a test.

It will work as an AI Unit.
That's how the Type XIV was first placed in Game.

yeah. I have managed to clone VIIb (it even nicely shows in the museum), but haven't been able to make it playable yet.

Well done Targor!
the only downside I see, is that the VIIb is alredy in game. But I suppose that it doesn't really matter fro a proof of concept ;) :D

I cloned it into IXB :P
That is what it was showing up in game.
The replacing of the mesh comes only somewhere in the middle... And after that you need to also remap all the waypoints and camera abilities... That is just the most painfull parts. So I'm just on the first step.
Can't make it playable tho yet.. Oh well.
I cloned it into IXB :P
:yeah:
if it is ready, why don't you release it as an AI unit? I know your purpose was to make it playable, but I think you should be already happy with the result you achieved so far :yep:

I would, but there are still good chunk of problems with it - some mesh overlap (heck if I know why atm), name is not showing properly (just shows as it's .cfg name, not the actual nice Type IX B U-Boat). Not to mention the meshes themselves need to be imported from type ix. And I haven't touched yet the coning tower :)
btw, cloning an AI unit should be a lot easier then cloning playable and converting it into AI... I actually might do that just to try. Thank you, gap!

Yes, of course cloning an AI unit should be by far esaier, but take your time on it. ;)
I cannot help you about the other problems, hopefully you will sort them out easily, but about the name not showing properly, have you added the appropriate entry in names.cfg? :hmmm:

yep. Traced that one down.
Thank you for the encouragement and the idea.
It's a slow process, since I can't read the HEX and binary code as easy as privateer or TDW (I am just not as knowledgeable yet), so it takes me a heck a lot of time.

I still have the original type 14 files as an AI Unit should you want to see them.
