A good idea, but unless I missed some sort of breakthrough in modding SH4, the guided torps cant change depth. But on the bright side someone did make it possible for surface ships to actually launch torpedoes.

Did the Japanese ever develop a homing torpedo? I can't find one.

and if they did, whats to stop it from turning around on them and killing the ship who launched it when the sub went to silent running or sat on the bottom?

Wouldn't the ship that launched it stop her engines?

i wouldnt think so because the sub (while staying completely silent) can raise to periscope depth and the ship would be dead as it cannot get underway again fast enough to avoid the torpedo comming at it.

no ship would turn off its engines with an enemy sub nearby, its suicide

Allied anti-sub torpedos had a depth ceiling that prevented them from hitting surface ships. It's academic though, the Japanese never had one.

None that I know. The torps used with the release for the japs mod are unreal, even the values are all mixed up.
