I dont know if such mods/ info exist :

1. Almanac or a way to know when sunrise/sunset is in game? In my current TMO 2.5 campaign, I am stalking a merchant west of Truk in july 43. Game time is 6:30 am which is PH or Base time. This means it is 2:30 am locally in RL since Truk is 4 hours ahead of Hawaii. According to the web, sunrise at Truk in RL in july is around 5:40 am. It would be nice to know what time sunrise is in game so I know how much time I have to get in front of the target and dive before dawn.

2. Darker Navigation tools or a way to change their colours? I use the ruler a lot, but at night with the Red Light, the tool colour tends to blend in with the map colour.

hmmm, now 7:30 am Pearl time (GMT -10), 3:30 am local time (GMT +10), but the eastern horizon is noticeably lighter...

From what I found, Truk was at GMT +10 the entire war, but Honolulu was at GMT-10h30 pre-war, switched to DST on feb.9, 1942 (GMT -9h30) for the rest of the war and only switched to its current time zone in 1947, so I still have no idea how to calculate local time.

I usually just keep track of sunrise/sunset and phases of the moon in a written log as I play. That way, I will be able to predict within a minute or two, the times for the next couple of days. I realize this is not as good as an in-game almanac, but will suffice, in general.

It's sad that this was something SH1 had - a daily calendar with sunrise/sunset/moonrise/moonset on the page, plus expected weather conditions. The weather only changed every day at midnight, but it was still better than what we have now. SH3 at least showed local time as well as base time.

the sun rose slightly before 8 am base time, 4 am local time, so the time is a bit out of whack.

so I tracked the merchant which was a 2000 tonners; went way in front and dove along its track, carefully tracked its speed and course, using radar, sonar and visual sightings, fired 3 torpedoes from 1500 yds, 2 hit....both duds...:/\\!!

Damn you TMO ...:ping:

Don't blame TMO. Blame BuOrd. They were the ones who developed the faulty torpedos. TMO just reflects the historical truth. Imagine if you were REALLY thousands of miles from base, deep in hostile waters, and had hauled 24 of these stones all that way, just to have them go "pop" AFTER they left a trail of bubbles to tell the world exactly where to find you!
