Dear ones:
Finally I have my SHII install working almost the way I like, but there is one thing I can't solve:
If I use the 1024x768 standard res, everything appears stretched, but if I change to 1366x768 res, funny things start to happen:
1.- Starting from the loading screen, everything is displaced to the left and there is a black space at the right of the screen, and the intro looks just like the 1024x768 aspect.
2.- Ingame, the map, peri, UZO, and others look just like the intro screen but they show the correct 1024x768 aspect, and on the black pace, appear the dials that should be hidden and show only when my mouse touches the edge of the screen and by placing the mouse on them, the slide further to the left on top of the map i.e. as they should. BTW, I use the sales999 readable dials.
3.- Only the cam views seem to be working fine.
4.- My monitor res is set to 1366x768 (native)

I would appreciate very much some help with this. BTW, which res fix should I use? I've tried Rubini's and Seeadler's, but both with the same result. If there is another, any link I could use?

Thanks for your help :up:

Hey Cap,

If I remember correctly this has something to do with scaling, are you using an nvidia card? you might try the 'XPSP2 Res Fix for 1.4b' .

It can be found here mate;

http://www.gamefront.com/files/21563770/SH3_XPSP2_Res_Fix_for_1_4b_zip

or here;

Hi mate,

A couple of thoughts, I presume that you are using a 16:10 screen at that resolution?. I'm using 16:9 at 1360x768 (my native res is 1920x1080). Are you using a widescreen GUI such as the widescreen MaGui, if not you should use a widescreen GUI else your game ssplah screens won't be scaled correctly. Lastly try going into Nvidia control panel and go to the "adjust desktop size and position" section and change scaling from "aspect ratio" to "full screeen" and apply this, if this doesn't worjk try the "no scaling" option

I have my d3d9.ini and d3d9.cfg settings set to 1360x768, I am using MaGui 3.4 widescreen GUI and I have set the full screen" option in my nvidia settings else I get a black band top and bottom. I also had to create a custom 1360x768 resolution in the nvidia control panel.

So I'd try this.

1. create a new resolution of 1360x768 @60hz in you nvidia CP if it doesn't already exist and test it in the CP.

2. edit the d3d9.ini and d3d9.cfg files in you main SH3 folder with notepad to the above (1360x768) resolution and re-save them.

3. Make sure that you have Magui 3.4 widescreen or another widescreen GUI installed.

4. Try the nvidia desktop scaling and as described above to "full screen" if required.

Hope it helps

Cheers

Sorry guys, with all the excitement, I didn't say what I did so others with the same problem can find a solution.

Well, It's a combination of 2 things.
1.- First, I downloaded the latest nvidia driviers as Fubar2Niner kindly suggested, also downloaded de d3d9 res fix from the link provided.
2.-I followed steps 1 to 4 described by ACES, without missing a comma.

Thanks to you guys for your kind support and your advices. :salute:
That's one of the things I really like about SUBSIM, the spirit of cooperation and friendship that has never been lost through the years.
Cheers!! :()1:

Cap

Sorry mate we're both getting crossed wires :haha: The newest drivers I have ever used and had success with are the 266.58's they are very old now. The latest or anything newer than 266.58 return a 'cannot initialise 3d.......' error.

Sorry if I confused you mate, glad you're having fun now.

Best regards.
