With the latest set of delays from HAHD, I have decided to hash together a Type II complete interior.

Make no mistakes.

It won't be complete. It won't be pretty. But I will release it by January 14th (which is when I go back to University).
This is my promise to you, SH3!

Lemme find a screen shot.

Let's try that.

Can't wait to see the end product. Knowing how your other interior(s) have come along, this will be just as brilliant.

Got the racks in, working on skinning some things, moving and editing, I'll try to post a screeny soonish, gotta see if my other computer can run s3d well enough to test things without running the game lol

Thanks for the support guys, I know we've all heard this one before...

edit: my ancient laptop totally runs s3d the right way. this will cut way back on the time it takes (I hope)

There are the racks etc.

Still gotta work out the kinks in the textures, it's convinced i've only got one texture for the hull, and i've put in three... troubleshooting now :D
(It was taking forever, loading the game every time to check the texture)

That is quite some progress.

Things are shaping up nicely.

Well done mate.

Took a large piece of work on there but looking forward to seeing the outcome.

postalbyke, I was just wondering: why don't you help the HAHD project-which obviously lacks hands to be released on time- with your skills instead of creating your own small separate mod? :D

PS: don't hit me bro! :O:

Lol I am not up to par for HAHD. I don't have the software to make shadows, and I rely heavily on copying existing parts or taking existing parts apart to make "new" parts.
Also, this is my winter break, and I'm trying to cram this entire project into the next two weeks.

HAHD (it seems to me) is for people who have both time and skill. They asked for people who had reliable amounts of time (which university has not afforded me lol)

So I use what little spare time I have to create low-quality filler material :D

Thank you very much for the vote of confidence, though! :salute:

Right now I'm cannibalizing Tomi's type II torpedo room mod for its doors :P

Torpedo Room with racks, went with the Vesikko-style covered outboards:

Engine Room looking forward, should have thought to photograph aft crew's berthing instead :P

And a proper Radio Room as per drawings, Still gotta cut up the radio and stuff it in here:

stopping for the night, cleared the wires in the TR, removed pictures and switch boxes (backward) from the ER, moved Radio into the Radio Room, put the Nav in a nook, we'll see you all tamales!

Okay, I was just starting again after some computer troubleshooting, and I ran into a pic of the sonar system on the Vesikko.

Has anyone here actually been to the Vesikko?
Or has better-quality plans than these:

If you'd rather PM me, that's fine, too. I'm just curious about some of the details, and I'm super-curious about the radio/sonar setup.

Okay! Time to quit getting bogged down in details and start doing the rest of the bulk work!!!

Built an air compressor for the ER, Finalized TT size and created air flasks and pipes. tomorrow: skins!

Made a couple skins on the slow computer, lost my fast testing computer to a loose connection. Connection fixed, skinning resumes tomorrow.

edit: Just realized I'm on my fast computer, pic from S3D:

Should I drop a preview model download here? JSGME ready?

I need good feedback. I still need to skin some models and add some details (torpedo tube doors, interlocks, piping, engine room gauges, piping, valves)

but I'd like to get some feedback regardless.

For me, screen shots of the work in progress are good enough. I can wait for the completed mod.

hooyah. I'm having a mid-winter slump, it's hard to turn on the computer and skin something when I can just sit and read lol.
I also just realized that I painstakingly created a completely wrong part... :nope:

But! I did find some new resources to look at! :yeah:

Mostly I love making the models, but it's hard to "paint" them for me. I want to just open the model and spray-paint it the right color and pattern :hmm2:
Anyone know how to do that, or is good at skinning but doesn't like modeling?

Gonna re-make that part and work on the TTs some more.

Back into the modelling side, looking online for inspiration. Anyone seen any pics of the space forward of the diesels? It looks like there's a ventilation fan there and a pump, but it's hard to address without pics.

I also thought I'd seen a ventilation lineup diagram for a type II or the Vesikko, but can't seem to find it anymore...

In other news, I found a countour map for the Vesikko, gotta follow up on that discovery (it's in Italian!) It also claims to have a contour map of type IIc or d (I need to re-read and translate) but I'm not sure about the lines, they look a little "square"...

Anyrate! still alive and kicking! I got some details of the rudder steering mechanism put in, waiting to see how gung-ho I feel about completing that, and I got some more valves and stuff put in the torpedo room (nothing big yet)

As a reminder, January 14 is my due-date, and it will be released regardless of completion! (work will continue after, but I've got math, physics, chemistry, and computers to compete for my time, so after that it will be slow again!)

Just got the Engine Room framing and some details modeled and added, no skins yet. I have decided to focus on models, (there shouldn't be too many more), then work on skinning 'til my deadline!

screeny as follows:

http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j478/postalbyke0/Proof5.jpg

(I might skin the frames real quick and go into the game to photograph them.)
(Or I might do the same thing to the Torpedo Room)

I'm an huge fan of the Type II, so I'm looking forward for this. I never use any other boat while hunting.
A couple of years ago I found a finnish website to a museum for the Vesikko-class submarine (A.K.A Type II). You've got some pictures there. The site also links to some 360 panorama images. I hope it helps...

EDIT: I should read whole posts before responding. I see you're already on it... Sorry.

No worries, bro! I appreciate any and all suggestions! I've found some good photos on flikr, geolocation, I even found several more panoramas, but i've lost their location now, think I found it on the original "who wants to finish this torpedo room" thread... I also had some success with image searches for cv707, vesikko, etc.

I downloaded silent hunter 5 recently, and although it doesn't work smoothly on my computer, I'm enjoying the atmosphere greatly, despite its lack of our favourite dugout canoe :D

I'm sorry, FM! If I'd-a-known, I would have waited 'til tomorrow night :P

But seriously, If you know anyone who's good at textures or shadows, could you give them a ding and ask for help? :hmm2:
