Best screen video recording sofware?

Hi guys. I'm back after upgrading my laptop. I now have a nice new Toshiba and SH4 runs beautifully on this one. Resolution, colors etc. all better. I have to reinstall TMO now, but that's saved on my external drive so shouldn't be a problem.

A question though. What software do you recommend for recording in-game video for review or posting on YouTube? I've downloaded a couple (Debut, and SMH) and neither record what's on the screen once I switch over to the game. :hmmm:

If you buy FRAPS, you have the best Screen Recording Software for Games. :)

I agree. I use FRAPS for all of my games. :up: It does lower the framerate slightly though. :shifty:

I did some research into this topic earlier (before tabling the idea until I got a faster-running computer) and most of the programs that offer a "free" version of their software really don't give you everything you need to make a great Let's Play for YouTube. If you're going to end up dishing out some dollars for a screen-recording program, I would end up getting Fraps anyway!

I have tried a few, and I get a common problem, which seems to relate to how Windows 8 handles hardware acceleration. In previous versions of Windows it is possible to manually control the degree of hardware acceleration so that the recording software can work, but it seems that there is no way to manually control this in Windows 8, which is the new operating system I have on the new laptop. So either I will have to resort to playing SH on my old laptop with slightly lower res and operating speed, or just use that for recording, but that will pose some problems, particularly recreating the exact or similar scenarios to record.

I can't even get SH to run in a window in Windows 8 to see if that helps. I'm no techy so I'll have to do some research on this to try to get a fix before I shell out for recording software. :down:
