Hi sailors

I enjoy the mods, that have made more or less all the clocks and meters alive in the boot.
One day when walking through the boot and passed the engine room, by incident I noticed, that when you are charging the batteries and the rev-meters indicate that one diesel engine is running about 500 rpm (charging) and the other diesel is running approx 150 rpm (ahead one third), the animation of the two diesel engines are running same speed. I would have expected, that the animation for the charging engine should have had a higher speed.

Is it possible to change the animations for the two diesel engines, so that one diesel will work at a higher revolution than the other?

Maybe an idea for a modder looking for a new challenge :)

Anyway thanks for all the fantastic mods out there, that makes this sim so special.

Best regards
Cyril
(I have played SH since SH1 was released and am still a dedicated player)

This is the reason I want to learn how to Mod the pesky file/folders of this Silent Hunter 5 simulator, to be able ane day to Mod or modify as I wish, the first step can be to learn from this thread.... http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=198840

TDW's Editor is not to the point of editing animations yet.
I don't have SH5 on this system yet so can't tell you for sure but,
I'd think the same animation info is used for both motors.

Now just off memory? Animation timing could be altered but would the Game Engine see the seperation of the motors? That I doubt.

well I am not a software expert, but I also think, that we have two animations (one for each diesel) and they are controlled by the same dataset and therefore run at same speed even if the rev-meters say something different. It could be nice, if we could make two different datasets, one for each animation.
I have not checked the propellers on the boat. Are they also running same speed, if one diesel is used for charging :hmmm:

Both turn at the same rate no matter if charging the batteries or not.

I thought I'd seen a mod that someone had done that would change this, but I can't seem to find it again. Can't remember who made the mod either.

Hi Gary

If you come across that mod some day, please give me a hint :)

For the time being I am irritated every time I walk through the diesel room knowing, that I am charging batteries but both engines are doing same animation :shifty:
