When exiting SH5 windows throws and error saying Silent Hunter 5 has stopped working! Has anybody else experienced this? And is there a solution? I'm running wondows 8 64bit.

most likely a glitch with windows 8 compatability.

its something microsoft will work out "hopefully"

At the moment, Win8 is not a games friendly system..

So far I've found it's better than windows 7 was :-)

Gonna try turning off the error reporting and see if that helps!

Rick, have you tried loading and running SH3 with Windows 8? I have found out there also is a Compatability mode with 8. Got the info from the guys at our MS store in the Mall here.
