View Full Version : Modders United
No, not the name of a football team but rather a catchy name for an idea than I had yesterday evening.
Over the years I've come into contact with many very talented and knowledgeable "modders" from all the modding communities with which I have been involved. 3D modellers, 2D artists, military enthusiasts etc. etc. Looking through my Skype contacts list yesterday evening I noticed contacts from the BDG (BoB development Group), Steel Fury and Silent Hunter communities in particular.
I'd like, if I may, to float an idea. If I was to create a Skype Group of that (or similar name) and invite my existing contacts and any others who would be very welcome to join, would anyone be interested?.
For those that don't know me, my interest is particularly in WW2 german aircraft, naval vessels and armoured vehicles. I'm most fond of 2D work but have a little experience of 3D work. I have a pretty good military book collection as I know that many of you have and have been interested in WW2 military history all my life.
I'm thinking that this would be a great opportunity to exchange ideas, skills and information with others of a like-mind and interest.
Let me know if you think that this idea "has legs".
Kind regards

Hi Ace,
That an excellent idea and i think you will be please with a project i am working on since the last 5 years.
For the moment i cannot say more but a new website will soon be put online that will be focus toward the Axis Naval, Air and land.
This will be huge in scope and all ww2 enthusiasts will be in nirvana there.
The content and quality on this site will surpass anything ever done in that field trust me.
I hope your idea will work and i will surely join your group.:Kaleun_Salute:
Best regards Hans

I know that it is early days and will take a while before the idea gets ariound but I'm beginning to feel that, unless other decide to join us then this idea might turn out to be dead in the water. I sincerely hope not as it is a great opportunity to share ideas, information and skills (and a chat) with those of a like mind and also showcase one's work via the blog which I am more than happy to give posting right to to those that decide to join us and participate on Skype.
Kind regards

Might be an idea to start with people chatting on Skype and give them the opportunity to submit ideas and preferences :hmm2:
Hi Jim, we are already doing this and there's some interesting discussion expecially regarding 3D modelling already going on. What we need are more folks to join us :D. Recently we've had some good discussion going on between an IL-2/SH3 modeller/modder and a friend whose modelling mods for Steel Fury.
It would be simpler if folks could join the Skype Group themselves rather than sending me a request but that's the way it works AFAIK.
Cheers

Hi Urmel,
that is a verry good idea. A kind of "reunification" of modders from all over the world, for example in Switzerland (Basel) would be a absulute nice idea. Cheep hotels to serve we know. It would be to nice from you.
Greetings
