Hi all I'm having a problem when i load my saved game. My game just exits to my desktop with no error message and UPLAY thinks I exited the game normally. I've had this problem before and this message is in my debug list everytime
\00001432 1891.10253906 [7488] SH_ServerOrbitProtocol.cpp (111): Failed to read packet from client.

It could be a lot of things . Do you have a previous save you can load ?

yes all my old save work and i can play historical missions. Although it's not just this save, it usually seems to be my most recent save that messes up. It happens from time to time while i play the game too. Actually just happened right now. I reloaded an older save and the game crashed while autosaving. Same message in the debug. Although I noticed this time UPLAY said it couldn't connect to the server. First time that happened.

Are you playing with the save syncing turned off ? Settings are in the launcher .

I am. I ran the mod validator also and there were a couple of paths that didnt exist.

Yes they did, I had to change 1 or 2 names because the versions that i had were newer, also I am not running every mod that is on your list, mostly because i originally had only like 80% of the mods. Once i got all of them and loaded them I started noticing the problems, so now I'm trying to get back to the list I was using that didnt have any problems. This is my current list

I edited your mod file to autoload the ones I want. There were no problems loading it. I also noticed that sometimes if I load up a historical mission, exit the game, and then load my save, it will work.

Do i need to start a new one everytime I change the list and reload the mods?Some mods you can unenable or enable while on patrol but a lot you have to start a new career . Not even an in port start will do with some mods . Just type silentotto while on the campaign screen to bring up all the campaigns . choose one and start a new career . Do you use TDW_GenericPatcher ?

Well i thank you anyways for your help, and all your awesome mods. I'm going to start a new campaign and not mess with the mods this time. Hopefully it fixes the problem

Hey sober, thanks again for your help. I think you were right, it was because i kept messing with my mods while not restarting the campaign. I havnt had a problem yet now that i startd a new one and havnt touched my mods. 1 more question tho, if I were to add stormy's sound mods, where would i add them to your mod list?

Hunting some random ctds, I have debug.log from tdw tool and my mod list, attached.
It's sober's mm more or less but I can't find what causes the issue.
It happen almost always everytime I'm attacking something, especially military targets (while surfaced or submerged), and sometimes on patrol with no contacts. Might have something to do with AI? Irai mod maybe?
I'm currently playing Happy Times but it was the same during Coastal Waters too.

Lets look at the hardware to run the game and mods first . What are your computer specs ?

Edited post with link to my xfire profile, click on the computer icon on the right and it will show a complete list.

Obviously the computer can run the game LOL . I am still looking . Load my mod list with my MEP file . Auto load the list with the mod enabler Tasks / load mod profile . Start a new career and tell me if you get ctds then .

The only changes I made to the list was add these 2

- Depth_Keeping_Problem_UHS_patch_HB_1_0_0_TheDarkWr aith
- TDW_GenericPatcher_v_1_0_74_0 (loaded last)

and removed some mods I don't use.

and removed some mods I don't use.Regarding the patcher , i just put the folder into the main SH5 game folder and enable it . I dont use the mod enabler . I dont enable the test folders TDW has in his MODS folder . I dont enable independant engine controls because it isnt integrated with his Ui mod yet . You shouldnt have a depth keeping problem ! Did you start a new career after mucking around with the mod list ?

To get a dvd copy of SH5 go to Amazon.com and do a search for Silent Hunter 5 - Battle of the Atlantic. You do not want any downloads of the game.... that's the same as getting it from Steam. Downloads of Sh5 are a waste of time and money IMHO. ;)

Have you done this, as it's important for a non corrupt mod installation with JSGME?
When you get a mod in a zipfile, open it with 7Zip and Extract the mod folder to your desktop. Click on the folder to open it. With most mods you'll see the mod and a document folder or readme text file. Read what's inside it and either save the document folder to someplace outside, or read it and delete it. Only import the mod folder with JSGME to the Mods foldler in SH5 and activate it. The document folder or readme files shouldn't be imported as they can and will corrupt the mod yo want to install.

Regarding the patcher, i just put the folder into the main SH5 game folder and enable it. I dont use the mod enabler.
There are opposing opinions on how to apply this patcher here around.
I'm not particularly fond of modifing stock files because if something go wrong a reinstall is required, so I'm using it as a mod but if I can't get out of these ctds as a last option I'll try this one too, if it works for you then it should be safe.
I have the game from uplay (not steam) which I think is the dvd version (or no?) so it would require a big re-download in case of having to reinstall. Patched to 1.2 using the autoupdater.

I don't have depth keeping problems but as described in its (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=166178) topic (first post) this patch is needed with the Realistic Environment mod v3 to compensate sub's up and down fluctuations and left and right swing.
Tested the difference with and without and it's not playable for me without, it looks like a luna park and takes away the fun of playing. If that's the problem then I'll directly cut out the other mod that requires this patch I think. What's an indipendent engine control btw? :salute:

I'd answer yes to this one, because I was experiencing ctds since start and then changed the mod list only one time, when in kiel, to remove some mods I could live without. I disabled all, removed and re-enabled all to try to resolve but they're still happening.

I'm getting the exact same type of CTD, only happens when FX_update kicks in and flares are shot up.

It doesn't happen all the time but it's still getting annoying.
