SH5 & Steam

Hello everyone,

I'm an old SH3 afficianado, now back for another round with SH5 (yes, always late to the party).

Anyway, am I understanding correctly that I cannot mod the Steam version of SH5? Confirm/Deny? I seem to be hearing conflicting opinions on this.

Some of the patches by TDW (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=1621039&postcount=1) (specifically, the ones affecting sh5.exe) are not compatible with the steam version of the game. :yep:

you really do NEED the exe patch and that means you dont want the steam version of the game.

Don't confuse people, Webster!!

I think what you meant was: "you really WANT the exe patch..."

But no, you don't HAVE to (have to - in a way that it will not work w/o the exe patch) have it. It will work without it too. Just not as good - some of the major annoyance bugs from stock game (hydrophone, CO2, magnetic detonators) will hunt you down.

As said you will be better off with the SH5 dvd. The Steam download is not user and mod friendly.... no matter what they say. Check on Amazon.com for a boxed copy SH5.
