What is considered excellent or above???

While playing careermode I noticed the different ranks to achieve.
Under the highest rank (Kapitän zur see) stood,
Awarded after at least 5 patroles of excellent or better rating.
Now is my question what is to be considered as excellent or better?
Can any of you give me numbers and/or criteria on this?

But he is speaking of patrols? I honestly can't remember if SH5 has a rating
system for each mission or something. :hmmm:

Thanks for the feedback on my question.
I already donne 6 patroles all rewarded with "rittercrutzen mit eichnlaub mit briljantn und swerten" my grantotal of renown is approx. 88000.

Accumulate some more then, make way to the 100k.
My patroles have to be shortened, in every patrole I make shure I've done 10 missionobjectives and sunk at least 300000 tons, I've done only 6 patroles and it's already Sept '44. I just wanted to make sure my patroles were excellent or above. Now that I did 6 patroles I'm starting to doubt, because I didn't get promoted to kapitän zur see after "at least 5 patroles". Are my patroles that excellent or is it just something I think, maybe I have to put in more effort to really achieve an excellent patrole. And somebody maybe knows numbers on the criteria for an excellent patrole.
Unless the amount of renown is the only parameter used to advance in rank as Jimbuna stated, then I just need to keep rasing that amount, and the fact what qualifies as an excellent patrole doesn't matter any more.
But I really would like to know for sure, I don't want to chase my tail
