If that's a question, then asking in the SH5 threads will undoubtedly get you the answer SH5, as asking in the SH3 threads would get you SH3.
They're all as cheap as cheap things, buy 3, 4, and 5 and tell us your opinions. :yeah:

yes, another ford vs chevy, apples vs oranges, and you CANNOT compare the two games as they are completely different and will always be that way. each has its own plus and minus and every person has things they alone like or dislike about each

SH3 was great, made epic by GWX
SH4 started bad ended up epic thanks to TMO and RSRD and many more
SH5 a dream in the making? My first impressions since modding are 'wow...'
I don't know i could never choose for just one, that would be like telling one of your 3 children that he/she is your eyeapple:rotfl2:
But the youngest allways gets the most attention as is the case right now, time will tell..

If SH5's campaign played as SH3's does it would be perfect. Why UBI did it the way they did is sad to say the least. But patched and modded correctly, SH5's graphics are awesome. One of the best redeeming features of getting and playing it.
All those that have done mods for SH5 deserve a Knight's Cross with gold oak leaves. They are the ones that have made SH5 worth playing, and making you adicted to it. :yep:

I'm becoming quite fond of SH5
After building a stable mod soup the game really is great! I have a tough time going back to III and IV

Once I can play in a Type II or a Type IX, once there is a real crew again, once I can sail through the gates and locks and under the Kiel Canal bridges, and once the bogus bunkers at Kiel and especially Wilhelmshaven are history, then I'll agree.

Most of that can be modded now.
It's just that there are few skilled enuff to do all the work.
I've only seen one Type IX good enuff to match or surpass SH5 models.
(The IX looks pretty good in SH5 by the way)
The Type II is there but the insides are needed to make it user playable.

I have to agree with you on all counts Steve. But I've learnt to overlook the bogus bunkers at Kiel and especially Wilhelmshaven. As for the sudo Kiel Canal, I even over look that. Reason being I'm only at Kiel or Wilhelmshaven just long enough to get the hell out of there, or get back close enough to Dock. Only once did I take in the scenery of the canal on my way to the North Sea. Now I plot my course thru it and use time compression to get thru as fast as I can. My interest is at sea sinking targets, not what's wrong that I can't fix. One day someone will do the mods for all three of these screw ups you mentioned, just like they did with SH3. But I can wait it out as I'm not going to miss enjoying the simulation of the attact in SH5. ;)
I didn't not play SH3 because of the mess that in was in, for the first few weeks or so, until the mods started coming out to start fixing things. And you know as well as I that it was one hell of a mess. Once improved I couldn't stop playing it and then I was burnt out so much I wouldn't touch SH3 for 2 years, but I was drawn back again. SH5 I wouldn't touch because it was worse out of the box than what SH3 was. I could never figure out how a company could stick it to so many people for the price they charged and get away with it. For over 2 years I said I'd never buy SH5, but again I broke down and even paid full price for it. I even built a new computer so I could play 5. Now with the mods for 5 I can't stay away from it. Even when I play SH3-GWX3, 5 is calling me to come back to the dark side. Well, IMHO SH5 is no longer the dark side. There are just too many mods that make it kind of resemble SH3, improve the the VII, the attack, and everything else, so I can't stay away. I'm also adicted more now than ever before because of the graphics in 5. And now you can even get close to being in a IX. Just use the VIIC41 and Sort of IX mods and pretend. I do.
All the other games/sims on my computer are now neglected and collect cyber dust. I feel that someday I'll even end up like Tron... sucked into the computer, but instead, on a Uboat in SH5. But that's only if you can imagine a 62 year old Tron. ;) LOL
