View Full Version : AAAAIIIEEE!! Out of patience
I am about 1 step, or less, from throwing this game into the trash...
I have got patched up to include a portion of v1.3 (by TDW), on that I just got the Hphones working (I hope) as the other stuff can wait. I competed the tutorial and started new campaign (as directed) as using OHII. Yes, I have tried to follow the directions as well as possible.
Started new campaign > selected Coastal Waters> selected Difficulty> selected skip for 'Tutorial' and it then dumps me into the Sub pen and I go up to an officer and am given these options:
1. What are my mission orders?
2. Let's start the new mission
3. Nothing more to say
1. Question: If I select #1 it explains about the Royal Navy and blah, blah, blah but then I cannot break out of it. I get stuck there. I cannot navigate the sub out of pen or etc so I assume that I do not want to select this one, correct?
So, I select #2 and end up on the Bridge and I navigate the boat out into North Sea, is this correct so far? (I hope so or it most likely is going into the trash)
2. Question: Out on the North Sea I figure I should do a few practice dives so after checking the depth of the water I tried to go to Periscope Depth and/or Crash Dive but the icons are whited out and the text says 'Can't submerge while crew on deck' or something like that. I can find no way to get the crew off deck or how to submerge. Yes, I have tried the keyboard also. Yes, I have selected the Watch Officer but no-joy.
3. Also, notice that I have NOZAURIO'S SKIN (U-552-Red Devil Emblem) v-1.0.0
Mod loaded. However, on external view I see no Devil Emblem on the tower. I've no idea. JSGME seems to load it correctly...dunno

You have to get off the deck and into the boat and then issue the dive order. The crew will automatically get off.

You are kidding, right? I can't issue the command from on deck?!?!?!?!?
OK...let me calm down... Ok, then I assume there is a keystroke that allows me to quickly go to the control room or someplace below rather than use this ridiculous awkward interface. I will look for it. Thanks. At least I now have an idea what I'm suppose to do... Rick

OK, I will figure out how to get it loaded but I think I have to go back to the bunker to do that in order for it to work correctly so... I was hoping to at least figure out how to drive the boat but it's so clutzy that...really different from SH3. I can't even tune the radio or get the grammaphone to work. OK, I will quite ranting and get the new UI loaded and start over...

Targor, not sure what you mean...? Do you mean just load Sober's mod list? I understand how to load the mods but TDC_7_1_0 is a bit confusing as it has numerous mods in it (guess you only load what you want) and you can select which UI you want (SH3 SH4 or SH5) but doesn't say how.... Also, I don't see anything in NewUIs_TDC_7_1_0_ByTheDarkWraith that mentions a keystoke to move to different portions of the sub.

Soder's MEGA MOD is a list of MOD's that Sober has tested and is using or has used.
Hopefully this list is lited by install order.

Many of these MOD's have options that may need to be configured prior to enabling the MOD using JSGME. So be sure to read each MOD instructions prior to enabling.:o
i.e. NewUIs_TDC_7_1_0_ByTheDarkWraith will need to be configured prior to enabling it in JSGME.:sunny:
TheDarkWraith provides a tool to configure the UI located in the MODS\NewUIs_TDC_7_1_0_ByTheDarkWraith\data\Applica tions\OptionsFileEditorViewer
folder - "OptionsFileEditorViewer.exe". Many many options to configure here.:up:
MOD install order is very important and can get very complex depending on how many MODs you decide to use.:timeout:

Click on request mission and then exit the screen
Then see the KMO again and select option 2

the reason you get stuck in that window is because of IO_StrategicMap_4_7_for_TDWv710
In most of the maps you will see the "X" in the top right corner of the map to close it/exit it. In the above mod it is not VISUALLY there. But it is still there.
Also, you can always click "ESC".

After doing some more reading I see that I also need TDWv710 which I knew and thought that I deleted the IO_StratMap until I got a chance (this weekend) to get TDW_710 configured and loaded. Thanks! How I figure it out was I ran across a video from Stoiamn and bam! I did read your instructions (about 100 times) but do to having the IO_StratMap loaded by accident (above) it threw me a curve. Yes, I have learned that the hard way for while the mod didn't fail it did throw me a curve leading me down a dark path LOL! :wah: I've read most every thing that you, Trevally, Sober, TDW and others have published - well - not all of course but a lot, a whole lot. The two biggest problems I have like most newbies: 1. I don't know how SH5 interface is suppose to work due to it being crap (IMHO) and 2. the use of acronyms. All you old sweats use them so easily and forget we noobs haven't a clue whatthey are but that's OK because we'll learn and there is a BIG learning curve for SH5 if you wish to write or even just use mods successfully. Thanks Beast! I am almost finished reviewing all the mods I am using (luckily most don't require anything) and tomorrow hope to have it completed with new interface, etc. Thanks, again!
I just got through installing Sobers mod list. I can tell you it was one huge PITA however I'm gobsmacked by what the sim has transformed into. I need to come to grips with all the new options but these guys have done a tremendous job with the sim. Try real nav (TDW) at 100% realism when you can - it's just amazing. The work will pay off. :up:

Even what I got loaded is amazing! But, maybe that's what I will do is use Sober's list instea of trying to reinvent the wheel as I did pull them all down. It's huge but at least the list is in the correct order and he give specific instructions on what to configure. Yeah, maybe that's a good idea. - Rick

I'd do a fresh install of the game to be safe.
