yes they had those, not sure if they are still around or not.
a whole lot of sh4 stuff was lost forever when filefront started deleting files without notice then shut down and deleted whole data banks full of hundreds of sh4 mods. a lot of these were modders who moved on or quit the game so there was no source to get them reloaded somewhere else.
i think vickers03 had a ship smoke mod but i dont know the status of it and there were a couple of flag mods out there.
do some searches and you should find something
one hard coded issue was flags always go straight back from the ship no matter the wind or speed while smoke does change a "little" from the wind

You mean like this?

If those mods (as separate downloads) are gone, there is a big posibility they still exist in supermods, like TMO, just read credits to see who made them, and if you need any permissions - depends what you want to do with them.

Search the mod forum here for the word flag. I just picked up a hi-res set of flags for SH4 that some one made for RFB, and all it is, .........., is a collection of dds files that go in the texture folder.
Just have to swap names on the Japan, and Japan_m files, if they show up on the wrong types of vessels.

Flags are nice, but they were only ever flown in friendly waters. Without a mod to make them go up and down, like Anvart's for SH3, I prefer not to have them.
But that's just me. :sunny:

+1, in enemy seas a big flag is not really useful.

is this mod still here
does somebody has it
If you check the SH4 downloads section, under "graphics mods", on page three I believe, there's a mod by Keldunk which adds exhaust, and improves the appearence of the water flowing from the Limber Holes. I've been useing this for a while now:yep:. As for the flags bit, I have to agree with Steve and the rest of those who prefer not to use them since they were not flown in enemy waters on patrol. Unless a mod can be developed which will allow them to raise/lower, I'll stay flagless.

I took out the American flag on my sub-strangely this was easy no S3D tricks-evidently the eqp file lists the flag node and you can comment it out. Appears there is a pirate flag to (also commented out) :arrgh!: HAR!. Below is a GATO eqp file-I didn't check the other subs.
Starting at the verry bottom of the eqp file. You don't want a flag just comment it like I did in [Equipment 19]

Yuppers. Thanks again for the model work on that flag. It's a gem.

I wanted to have more options to personalize your submarine. Historical? Not really. Fun? Yes. Being able to personalize your sub in any SH game is a layer of interaction that i think is important.
Can you change the flag to whatever you want? Yes.
Can you remove the flag altogether? yes.

Removes just like this. This was intentional to give you options. The pirate flag is Edward Teach's flag, and not the overused Jack Racham flag Disney made famous.
