I use Ati 5770 with 12.3 catalyst drivers. Windows 7 64bit

No broblem in stock 1.5v install but TMO 2.5 and Improved Stock Environment_v3_TMO&RFB have broblem just like in that picture :wah:

Help please

Make sure the game is set to highest settings in graphics options (just in case, wont hurt checking). Then you will want to determine if it happens with TMO, so deactivate Improved Stock Environment and load the game with TMO only. If the problem goes away, reactivate ISE and see what happens - has the problem returned or not.

All maxed out and broblem is there even wiht just tmo 2.5

Time to try AF filters if those help :wah:

Then its 2 possibilities: its something wrong with your TMO files, or game files (is that SH4 installation of yours old or fresh?) or its your graphics cards settings. I can see you have AA enabled, and possibly something else. Unfortunately I have nvidia card, so cant help much with ATI, but try to disable anything weird in ati control center, leave only standard things like AF and AA. Or - just for testing purposes - deactivate everything extra, and run the game with application controlled settings in ati control center (to see if it makes any difference).

nvidia has "negative lod bias" - allow and clamp, see if ati has anything similar; this setting should be set to "clamp" for better quality.

Forgot to ask: what is the weather on that screenshot? Its clear or light fog maybe?

i would do a mod soup cleanup first before trying other things

Looks like I have that too:

Its more pronounced on your screenshot, maybe because you have better monitor. It's also not that bad in game, while everything is moving, but I do admit it looks bad, like very law draw distance settings in other games. Maybe it can be corrected somehow (scene.dat maybe).

My guess s it's a video issue. My good card blew n a storm, so I put another old one in yesterday and had the issue...still a decent card, either the driver or video settings be my guess....

yep, if a card reaches its limits then it stops rendering ALL details and there is no telling what you will be missing out on, near as i can tell its the things at distance that are the first to go like horizons then objects.

sometimes things might just "pop" into view as you get closer if it is a card limitation but this is all speculation that this is what is going on here so at this point IMO its minor enough to ignore it or try a slightly lower game settings

Got a problem similar to:

...specifically, compared to the OP...notice how 'neon blue' your water is? Mine is like that, too - annoys the heck out of me. How do you get the more realistic colors like the OP has?

Re-installed game, re-downloaded and re-installed mod. No difference.

System:
Intel Core i7-2600k
16gb DDR3-2133mhz
GeForce 680 - 2gb VRAM (304.48 driver)

The water color depends on environment mod you are using, It's TMO (based on Real Environment, if Im not mistaken) on my screenshot, and Improved Stock Environment on Haukka81 screen. I am not going back to stock water colors\shaders because of annoying white lines and dots around cables and other thick objects when underwater - its particularly visible with stock water and almost not existing with RE/TMO shaders.

it could be a game thing as well, im thinking the wave detail might be generated like the sea floor where you only see something there for a finite distance and its blank after that. its possible the changes made by the mod effect this render distance somehow and then again the stock look is so muted that we may not even notice this may be how the stock game looks as well :hmmm:

Seeing this is the same for me too, when there is no fog.

eVGA GTX 260 cards x2 in SLI, and I had to put a frame limiter on them to keep them at my stock resolution, and even with a huge task force or convoy in the area, I get no drop in frame rates. It stays steady at 60fps.

I'm thinkin' you're correct Webster where the the detail isn't rendered to swell at a distance. But as you said too, the stock water is so muted that we don't notice it.

I agree, it's probably the game renders so much detail from the cam. If you move the cam the detail should stay around the cam. I don't think I noticed it as much before due to a better video card. It's possible it can be controlled some in the scene dat like fog, but I've never played with it.

well i have been doing some testing and it takes some "medium" wave action to dsee it but its the game doing it and not mod related.

there always seams to be a dull area about 1/4" to 3/8" below the horizon where no water detail is generated except color.

i suspect that if you could find a way to make it generate to the horizon it would be a big drain on your fps in the game and lesser computers might not be able to handle it. it doesnt look like much but its harder to generate smaller objects in detail and i think it would have negative side effects.

something along the lines of extended environment mod is being worked on here that could have promise http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=196920

I don't think increasing the horizon would change the way the water renders, but that's me....

Funny, when I made my waves larger, even though I couldn't see the waves far away, the ships still rode like they were on big waves. I think
it's just a video issue that is coded, as Web said, it would place a huge burden on the game.

Looking at SH5 SS, it appears to be the same as SH4, water only renders so far, heres one I copied
