Hello everybody. I just thought of a totally awesome idea for a mod in SH3. We all know the Type IID right? Well some of them were fitted with a 8.8cm deck gun, and I don't see that in SH3. Is it possible to mod an 8.8cm deck gun onto a Type IID AND get the conning tower to have an AA gun on it kind of like the IID/2 Turm, but only with the bow flak being "transformed" into a much more powerful 8.8cm deck gun? Just curious, cause I've always wanted to have a deck gun on my main submarine of choice. :P If you have any questions on details, let me know. I have no modding experience at all, so I want to make this as clear as possible to those willing to undertake this "mission."

Do you have a reliable source for that claim? I've looked everywhere I could think of and couldn't find a reference to it.

I just checked earlier, but sadly I couldn't find anything at that moment. I could have sworn that somewhere I found a Type IID with a 8.8cm deck gun. I swear it! This mod doesn't necessarily have to be realistic you know.... I've just always wanted a Type IID with a deck gun. Period. It would make patrols so much easier, cause up to 1942 the deck gun is my primary weapon of choice. As for a reliable source for this being realistic, I am still unsure, but I swear I saw it once somewhere.

I understand. I've remembered things myself and not been able to recall where I had seen or read them. Yes, it might be cool to have, and everyone should be able to play the way they want. Unfortunately I play the game for the correct feel, so I personally don't see the need for such a mod. That said, I hope you find someone who can make it for you. :sunny:

Ok I'm glad you understand. Personally, I play games for the fun, not for the realism, but that's just me. I know I'm not the only one, but I just like it for the fun. I hope someone out there knows how to do this. Surely someone knows. If Jimbuna or Yamato1 can make those fantastic creations they sure can make this too! :rotfl2:

Every time I request something for a game it happens to get turned down. What's up with that? Do I just not exist anymore or is my "chore" a little too hard for you qualified professionals? For now I'll just expect that people forgot or have never seen this request yet, but if a long period of silence strikes again, I'll strike back, hard. Just a fair warning. At least say that you cannot do it for god's sake!

First, 160 people have read this thread since your first post. Most are looking for something that interests them. Do you really want 160 posts all saying "I don't know"? That's several pages.

Second, most of us have posted threads at one time or another that never got replies, myself included. Most of us just let it go.

Third, modders mostly make things they want. A rare few actually do things on request, but not often. I'm sure they really welcome someone insulting them by rudely challenging their skills.

For now I'll just expect that people forgot or have never seen this request yet, but if a long period of silence strikes again, I'll strike back, hard. Just a fair warning. At least say that you cannot do it for god's sake!
You might want to rethink that "Strike back" part, at least if you want to continue to be a member here. We consider ourselves an adult community, and don't take kindly to insults or threats.

Lastly, as I said before, if everyone who can't do it or doesn't want to said so you would end up with a very long thread full of nothing.

for 1 its not a "chore", its a "Request"... let me type that again... "re...quest"
if you have that kinda attitude no one will want to help you with anything. i sure as hell dont and this thread is a waste of space with these kinda posts.

for two if you really googled the crap out of it and found some kinda document or picture im sure someone would at least respond to it.

for three, you could ask if its a simple mod or a difficult one, judging by the responses its not something easily done.

so take your threats and you comments somewhere else and be pactient and ask nicely.

Yep. Just like Mission4Today. Looks like I'm on my own (again). That's kind of sad. I thought Subsim was better than this. Oh well. Lock the thread please. I don't want to come back to this ever again. No more requests for me. There's nothing I hate more than moderators and what not yelling at me, and nothing stinks more than getting a request denied time and time again. Nothing. You win guys. i think i know what your talking about is it not a screen shot you seen in here that was a mod soup files getting mixed up thus the iid had a 8.8mm gun turret ???

Subsim is better than you seem to think. No one yelled at you. I explained the possible reasons why your request wasn't answered. I also mentioned that it happens to many of us, and most of us don't whine about it. As for outmodding folks? Go for it. I like to see people learn new skills and improve things.
