Hello Kaleuns, :salute:
I am sure some of you know about the type IIA conning tower/attack periscope bug, that appears ONLY on that boat type, with GWX_DFa-Flag&Pens_2010 installed.
For those who don't know what I am talking about, here is a description of the bug:
When viewing out of the attack periscope on a 1.5 zoom forward, you see fragments of the same periscope-head that you are looking out of. I like the "Einbaum"-boats as well as Flag&Pens, and this bug is very annoying.
Does anyone know a way to fix this?

This is the 'focal length' (if I remember correctly) setting for any scope in the cameras.dat file. If you make the length too large you get this effect.
Use SKwas editor to correct this, but be carefull you'll have to change a lot of optic settings to get the correct optic scales - this requires some testing.

Thank you for the reply Vanjast. :)
I don't think that it is the cameras.dat file. Because this bug appears only on the type IIA, and only after activating GWX_DFa-Flag&Pens_2010. And GWX_DFa-Flag&Pens_2010 doesn't come with a cameras.dat file.
I did find a way to fix it, but it is rather a compromise, since I probably lost the ability to raise pennants on the IIA. What I did is this:
I downloaded Anvart's DFant_subFlag_2010 (which I think is an older version of GWX_DFa-Flag&Pens_2010), and deleted all files of that mod EXCEPT the ones related to the type IIA, which are:
Ojects/ Turm2A_1_hd.dat
Turm2A_1_hd.sim
Submarine/NSS_Uboat2A/ NSS_Uboat2A.eqp
Then I installed these three files on top of GWX_DFa-Flag&Pens_2010 and that solved the bug. Probably I lost the ability to raise pennants on the IIA though, since DFant_subFlag_2010 doesn't have pennants. I was just wondering if there is a fix to this without having to give up pennants on the IIA.
But for sure the bug lies in one of the three above mentioned files, (the versions that come with GWX_DFa-Flag&Pens_2010). :hmmm:
Kind regards

I fixed this problem on NYGM HiRes Subs by opening turm2a1hd.dat and finding the sensor and wake files for the affected scope and moving them back inside the scope (every time I found this problem, I found the sensor or wake node outside the scope)

I guess, the proper tool to open such files would be s3d. I haven't really figured out yet how to use that program, but I will definitely give it a try.
At least I know now what to look for.
Thank you for your help postalbyke.

Oop! Right. "Use S3D..."
It's so useful that I can't imagine trying to mod or apply mods without it. It can even warn you when you're about to mess up!
S3D will detect if the file you are using has related files (for further cans of worms, later) but most of my work started in the .dat files. It's super-easy to use, and the creator is still around for help if you run into problems!
I tried hexing things, but it felt really random to me, so I quit that :P
Just imagine your game file to be like a folder full of more folders, and go from there. Also use the "model preview" button for maximum fun! I move things on the boat around, play with cameras, make my crewmates in the bridge stand lower so I can see over their heads... word.
@Captain Mark.
If I understood you correctly ... must be as on picture:

No... just you must change ClipDistance (0.3 m --> 0.5 m) for CameraParams controller...
for _Dummy_Cam_Periscope and _Dummy_Cam_Obs_Periscope in Cameras.dat.
That's all.
