Hello!

I reinstalled this game because my grandson took an interest in it. He is no where ready for the more difficult megamods so for now I'm running stock 1.5 for him with a few small mods and an environment mod.

Mods I cannot find for v1.5

Mini chrono
a metric nomograph for on the nav map.

All the old references I have found for these are for early versions of the game or download links are broken.

Any help finding these for v 1.5 would be appreciated.
.......Thanks

I myself have had difficulty finding mods that where done over a year ago, sometimes the links put up by the mod owners themselves go dead because the modders either remove the files from where they uploaded or haven't been active for so long the accounts get closed. But saying that these guys usually keep a good list of past mods.

So in all fairness they should be able to help with your problem :salute:

Thank you Marka :salute:

Now I just need the smaller stopwatch. The stock one is ridiculously large.

you might want to give my GFO mod a look, it tries to fix everything that needs fixing in the game without changing gameplay or dificulty and its designed to be mod friendly for mixing with other mods.

Already installed, Webster. I added that mod and dropped the environment mod. (all the environment mods conflict with it, correct?)
Many or most of those fixes are a necessity if you run the game out-of-the-box. Thank you for putting that package of mods together. :ping: It made it easy to get the game playable and fun without adding difficulty.

Still looking for a reduced size chrono though.:-?

You might like to try TMO WTW - thats TMO with training wheels _ it is still difficult but the detroyers don't detect you so quickly

as i recall the conflicts are only related to my smaller rain mod in it so you can use the environmental mods its just you will loose the smaller easier to see thru rain which i think looks more realistic. the stock rain gets like a fog you cant see thru which isnt the way real rain is. there is a real environments patch to restore GFO to get the fixed rain back so its ok to use real environments but i never did patches for Env 5.0 or PE4 or whatever the lasts versions were.

im going to dig around and see if i can find info on the chrono :06:

UPDATE: ok the Hamilton Chrono mod was made for v1.2 of the game and im not sure if it worked with 1.3 or 1.4 t all but i doubt it. the reason is it requires the menu_1024_768 file to be manually edited on several lines to resize and relocate the clock. this however isnt it because the clock hands are controlled and position completely seperate from the clock so they need to be repositioned to work correctly as well . Longam did this and released a working version for 1.5 but all the linksfor it are dead now. one major issue with this mod and i thing the reason it dissappeared is if you are going to use any mod that contains its own menu_1024_768 file then that means you have to go into that mod and make the changes yourself but Longam never listed how and where to make ALL of the changes. there was a post where he listed how to resize the clock but there was no info on how to relocate, resize, and reposition the clock needles.

the most help i could give you is here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=149969

if you figure it out please upload it here at subsim and include the changes needed for manually adding it to your game since anyone using a large mod would need the instructions on how to do this

I think the wonky needles reported in that thread was the result of 1.5 looking for the needed files in data/menu/skins/american/gui/clock.tga instead of the pre-1.5 data/menu/gui/clock.tga.

I've been using the smaller chrono mod for years - as a stand-alone version in 1.4, and as part of TMO in my recent 1.5 build. Here's what my menu_1024 file entries look like, give it a spin and see if it works for you:

I found those changes in this post. They are the same, right?

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=831357&postcount=10

......But they are not working for me after manually adding the lines.

Does anyone have Jimimadrid's JTeX editor to make this an easier process?

All links to it I have found are broken.

I reinstalled this game for my grandson.
He is 13 yrs old and so far a bit overwhelmed with it, but learning.

I have eliminated all enemy aircraft so he can for now just learn to navigate and make good tactical decisions regarding approaching ships.
next......... manual TDC
.......then, if he is still interested ramp up the realism and difficulty.

But I have always hated the size of the stock chrono. Just seeing it pop up annoys me. (so this is personal, lol)

Nope, mine are slightly different.

Unfortunately, I don't have that wonderful little tool any more

its easy without it.

use notepad and under "edit" there is a "find" and you use that to search for [G29 I2] and bam your there without going blind looking for stuff

i tried his settings on my game and everything works great and the chrono is a lot smaller then stock.

maybe you did something wrong the first time?

to make it easier for you just copy and paste this over the same section of your "menu_1024_768" file
