View Full Version : Detail level at zoom possible to fix?

In playing with the look of ships over the waves I now notice the ships look way off when zoomed in.A ship can look great at normal distance but go to binocular view and they are sticking out of the water by 2m's and the splash at bow and stern are 2m above the waterline.

What I think is happening is that the detail layer above the water is not showing since the water itself is like glass with no ripples or white foam effects.I believe this was done yrs back to deal with the slower computers we had and the increased detail levels that ships show when zoomed in.If you also had detailed water it may have become a slideshow....could be way wrong here and its only on my side of the game.

Anyone have any idea what I am talking about and is this detail layer of the water able to also be seen when zoomed in?

Seems real complicated. When I look thru binos and the ship is say 5 inches across a bridge that is standing right behind it seems very large....but when I go to external view and get the ship 5 inches aross on screen the bridge behind it looks way off in distance. Its because the zoom on a pc screen is trying to simulate real life zoom and in thats hard to do when you change the FOV to small er than the whole screen when you look thru a scope or binos...if that makes sense.:(

Sucks though when targeting ships with scopes in high waves.Maybe there is a fix?????
