More Frequent Weather Changes v1.2 for Traveller mod v2.01, RSRDC 5.xx and Trigger Maru Overhauled (TMO) v2.5

v1.2 changes:

- Adjusted all campaign files to trigger more frequent weather changes. Weather changes will now occur more often than before, even when playing at higher time compression.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This mod changes the way Silent Hunter 4 weather works. There have been some players reporting being stuck in the same weather for weeks on end, with no change. This mod corrects that problem. After installing, players should notice much more frequent and varied weather changes. Please note that weather change frequency and type is also affected by time of year and location in game.

( Credit to Leovampire and Subtype Zero for providing technical support for this mod )

** Trigger Maru Overhauled v2.5 with RSRDC 5.xx mod is required. Traveller Mod v2.01 is optional. **

** You may not notice any changes until leaving port at the start of a new mission **

Have fun. :sunny:

This looks like a good one! I wonder which one will work with RFB, if any?:hmmm:

If I'm not mistaken, RFB used (uses?) Pacific Environments 4, unless they switched to its successor Real Environment on their latest version. Check the RFB documentation.

I'm hoping SH4 gets more attention. It's still very under-appreciated. :woot:

By the way, I forgot to mention to everyone that to force quicker weather changes with this mod, temporarily slow down your time compression to 256x or 512x for a few hours (game time).

This is a terribly hard to find mod. I know it because I tried to find it myself, to no avail. Anyway, it's included in a larger modpack put together by Traveller before he abruptly left the community. Find it here:

There is a version for fleetboats included in Trav 2.2 mod. I'll check and see if I have the seperate mod for weather changes, but it's a simple change of one value in the scene dat.

I really wish for a new standalone mod like this. I've been stuck with heavy fog for a week now and it's getting really annoying :/\\!!

Is Traveller's modpack compatible with TMO?

In this pack, it is More Frequent Weather Changes v1.1...is it same compatibility with TMO 2.5 as the v1.0?
I guess so, but...

EDIT: ahhh...no weather mod inside!...it's all include in main mod.

Hi Fifi. Thanks for your interest in my mods. The weather frequency value needs to be hex edited. The S3d editor won't work. I can re-release a TMO 2.5 version of More Frequent Weather Changes if you like. :hmmm:

No problem. I hope it helps. But just remember that you probably won't see the more frequent weather changes until your next mission. So it's best to install this mod while in port. If you have the time, please report back here with your results after installing. :)

Well, after playing SH4 again after some time, I have to admit that I'm still not very satisfied with the results of this weather mod (and in Traveller mod). It just doesn't work well, as it almost always sets to default settings under any type of time compression, with little to no weather changes. So what I'm working on right now is a mod that changes all the campaign missions to have a better chance of very frequent, random weather changes. Yes, ALL the files.

Too many files. Lol.

Actually, I only plan on doing one set at first, and it will be compatible with both Traveller mod for TMO 2.5, and just TMO 2.5 with RSRDC mod.

Upon campaign testing with these new weather settings, I've been having much better results so far. I'm looking forward to releasing this weather mod in a day or two. :)

:wah: Finished my first patrol with TMO 2.5, and NO weather change...
Was waiting to be in base to activate your mod, but if it's not working so good...well, will wait for your future work to come!

Anyway, don't understand why the weather never change in TMO 2.5.
Completely unrealistic and immersion killer. Furthermore, with no waves/no wind, it's almost impossible to close big convoys even at night.

Back with TMO 1.9 + 1.9 patch + SCAF for 1.9 + Max Optics for 1.9, where the sea mechanics overall rendering and colors are the best by far on my rig :yep:

No worries, Fifi. I just uploaded v1.2, and it works very well. Please see the first post in this thread for more info. I guarantee you will have more frequent weather changes in this version. :D

Everyone please try this new version 1.2 out and let me know your results. Feedback is appreciated.

You mean, there is no "global" weather?

So, if I was on a "patrol X" mission, I would be stuck with the weather outlined for it, even if I finished the mission weeks ago and sailed 1,000 miles away?

I'm not sure I understand how the weather operates. :06:

The weather is randomized by running checks every so many hours. All I did is make these dice roll checks occur more often than before. Weather is still randomized, but the checks occur more often now. There is no 'set weather' in this mod. I've been playtesting a campaign with v1.2, and it works quite well. Please try it and see.

V1.1 didn't satisfy me. I just uploaded v1.2, and it works much better. But please note- More Frequent Weather Changes v1.2 mod requires Run Silent, Run Deep Campaign v5.xx to work. It's a highly-recommended mod.

I guess it doesn't work without RSRDC?...really?

Correct. And don't forget Traveller mod 2.01 also requires RSRDC to work correctly.

That would be cool, but I don't think the game engine supports specific weather for specific dates.
