Thanks Steve. :DL Do you mean OM mod? Or just any U-boat? If it's just vanilla SH4 U-boats, no problem. But to be honest, modding the OM version's equipment and sub UPC files is difficult due to all the extra stuff Observer added to it.

By the way, I'm currently working on a 'Davy Jone's Locker' patch for my Traveller Mod that will simulate a destroyed hull and pull the sub from the surface down to... Davy Jone's Locker. This is to prevent players from trying to run around on the surface with multiple, permanently flooded compartments due to destroyed bulk heads. Subs should sink from the surface with multiple flooded compartments, and now they will. It actually works pretty well. Kind of creepy watching the stricken sub being pulled down. Here's a screen shot during testing running on the surface at flank speed with flooded compartments, trying to avoid 'the Locker':

Yeah, I meant OM, but if it can't be done then it can't be done. I might try installing it anyway, just to see what happens. Thanks for your help, and for all your brilliant mods. :sunny:

This looks like a very interesting mod Traveller. I wanted to look into the repair times myself, but now it looks like I won't have to. :DL

I presume you have to be in port to instal this?

Hello and thank you for the great work you have been doing. I have run into a problem with the rescue mod. I am currently using your traveller mod and rescue mod. When I try and send the required message at the beginning of the patrol I get nothing except the regular message that you get when you send a statis report. It says in the read me that it isn't compatible with mods that change the roster. Does that mean any extra ship mods also. Also I am using TMO 2.5 w/RSRDC. Which version's of the Traveller and rescue do I use. Here is my Mod order. Hopefully you can let me know if I have screwed up the order or if I am using the wrong version's. Just saw this, I should come here more often, glad to see someone has resolved many of the issues that have bothered me for a long time. I have long adjusted settings, but this is what I've been looking for, way to think outside the box. Great idea for the sub to sink on the surface, can't wait to see how that works. This may be mod of the year material..

I just loaded this up with RFB 2, for the giggles because it looks really awesome.

Amazingly, It seems to be completely compatable. I parked my sub on the bottom, let a battleship shoot at me and parked on the beach and nothing terrible seemed to occure. Really suprising, but makes me very happy
Edit: Apparently using this with RFB means your subs wont ever get to have deck guns. Oh well. Ima go cry in the corner.

Dice, try loading it up with FOTRS for some laughs.

Because its based of TMO, theres a small chance it might work. Hopefully you arnt missing a deck gun like I was:rotfl2:

Finally got to play with your mod, simply...a great mod....it really changes the game and makes it so much more realistic.

I attacked a convoy in Formosa, but took a beating from a TypeAB escort.
I love how you see no damage percentages, but I had 3 compartments showing they were going to flood out and another about 30% flooded. Now I had to guess how deep I could go. As the compartments flooded, my boat took a steep angle, but using my yo yo technique I was able to not head for the bottom. Luckily I escaped the attack..

Before, I would've waited for repairs and probably attacked again, not this time. It was night, but planes showed up. Luckily I made it to shallow water. Much of my boat was wrecked, stern batteries destroyed, lot's of other damage. I lay on the bottom in 200ft of water. I was scared to get in deep water as 3 compartments were destroyed and totally flooded now.
It took a good day to repair repairable damage, cept engines took two days....the flooded compartments stayed destroyed and flooded until I got home.

So, night came, I had to blow tanks to surface, even then my boat rode low in the water, best I could make was 12 kts after repairs.

Before I would've made other attacks, now damage is realistic, you goof, you pay for it and attacking is out of the question, you just want to get home alive.

Compartments stayed flooded..Only strange issue was even with BS off, sometime the entire crew would
fall asleep, but if I hit BS again, they wake up, cut it right back off the crew on duty would then stay awake.

Great mod but does it nerf 3d damage on subs? I was trying to pass sunda strait on surface in a salmon class in april 1942(dumb i know lol, was late and didnt want to save but had started a career so just fooled around) and shore batteries after many misses do to my high speed zigging, hit me multiple times, but no holes, no 3d damage, May want to check it out.

I'm happy to see people are still trying out this mod. v1.1 is still a bit rough. To be honest, my Traveller Mod for OM is more polished. But I plan on updating the TMO version when I find the time.


Awseome, when you update, could you include a lifeboat fix? So large troopships dont just put out a couple rafts lol, saw you were able to solve the issue in OM and also stop them from speeding around.Thanks

Will the update address the nerfing of 3d damage on player subs? I have purposely tested it and with a Gato in later war and Salmon in early water, direct hits from shore batteries, no holes in hull, no 3d damage but plenty on the dc screen.Not a huge deal but just letting you know and wondering if you saw my last message about it.

Is there any chance there will be a RFB version of this? Dont know how hard it would be, considering RFB mods the sub quite a bit already, still would be nice to be able to touch the bottom without crew injury :P

This is a great mod BUT....the bulkheads seem to give way far too easily in a depth charge attack.May need some adjustments.Two careers now I have been lost to easily destroyed bulkheads.Earlier in the attack i took some minor damage and flooding to the conning tower and engine room, it was repaired and pumped, then a few runs later, stern torpedo room and engine room bulkheads went to 100 percent.Love the mod and what youve done but may want to adjust how easily the bulkheads are destroyed.Fleetboats were tough as nails, not tanks but they were tough.Just some feedback

I simply love this mod, has made the game fun again. Not sure how I feel about bulkheads, I don't notice easy damage unless a charge hits close, then damage can be massive through the sub. I had an escort make a run, not sure how many charges were in he blast range, but all my bulkheads were destroyed but one and mass damage to most equipment. I was headed for the bottom, but hit the seafloor at 300ft. I figured I was dead, just waiting, but not to be. Did get some battery power, when the enemy cleared, blew tanks and hit flank for 2 knots, rose up a tad, but couldn't surface...being able to sit on the bottom was saving me. I felt like Tang, all men trapped in one compartment unable to surface.I was able to move, down to 1kt I got shallow enough my deck was above water, stranded on land. I did deck repairs fixed one engine and tried again, but sub being flooded I sunk, rinse and repeat back to the shallows...we beached the sub and found some native women.

I don't recall if your rescue mod works with this mod, but wouldn't it be great if u could call a sub to come save your crew or an abandon ship option...I know, virtually impossible.

Anyway, it may be the zones, but maybe the splash range or new hull zone allows one charge to ruin compartments further away, instead of one,but that may be how things need to work, but one close charge should be death 99% of the time anyway.....still much better than any other mod out there.

Hope you continue to think outside of the box with your mods, I've been waiting for these changes for years.

IMO there are some excellent ideas being executed in this mod. Have a look at the changelog and give it a try, if you are in the mood for a more unforgiving (to mistakes) experience.

One of his last posts over there said he didn't even have SH4 loaded on his computer anymore.

I have some of his mods but, I can not share them due to not having his permission to do so. He put this statement on the bottom of all his readme's.

Now I regret deleting his mod, I was waiting for the RFB version. Does anyone know if theres a place I can get the TMO version? Its quite selfish (to put it nicely) to make a mod like this, and just remove any way to aquire it.

Yea, I use it and love the changes, but as stated wouldn't upload it without his permission. Maybe I can get in touch with him directly and see if he'll put it up somewhere, maybe Ubi if he doesn't want to here. Seems he ran into some issues with some here, I really don't know the story, but he is a great modder, shame others can't use it.
