What software would you experienced modders consider essential in creating your SH3 mods?

I currently have:

Notepad (text editor)
XV132 (hex editor) not that I have a clue how to use it properly
JSGME
S3D
SH3/GWX Gold

I'm sure I'd need something to modify/create textures etc.

Thanks

Os

I ponied up the $50.00 for SweetScape's 010 Hex Editor.
Being able to write Scripts and Templates for it is what hooked me.
It also has things like file compare, search in files (which allows scanning many files for what your looking for), and other bells and whistles that I haven't even looked at!

Gimp is a good Graphics program and is free.

Misfit Model 3D, Blender, and Wings3D are some free 3D modeling programs many use.

S3D and Pack3D of course.
Pack3D for the ability to mass export meshes

My must have list:

Audacity 1.3==>sound edition
Gimp==>image edition
Wings3D==> basic 3D work (compatible with S3D)
HexWorkshop==> very powerfull hex editor
Search&Replace==> the best to search anything into files
ExamDiffPro==> to compare files, a must.

Obviously we have a lot of others options as commented on the posts above, My list is by personal taste and experience with some, others because they are free.:up:

edited: obviously S3d!!! and now the GR2 editor by TDW!:DL

Three last versions of Pack3D with fixed by me setYz (float yz) - Rotation Z in the terminology of S3D.
I recommend using Pack3D_10.22.05_m.jar.
When you export the model (mesh) Pack3D does not change the list of vt-coordinates, which is important for character animation.

another two 3D programs; 3ds max and Gmax. Gmax is free, and 3ds is about $3,500 if you're not a student

For a limited time you can get Hexagon 2.5 and other products from DAZ3D as download for free.
Hexagon 2.5 is a modeling application that can read and write OBJ and other formats.
