View Full Version : Additional U-boats ( Class IX and XXI)

Is there a way to add extra U-boats into the game? I viewed the timeline image from "Equipment Upgrades Fix by theBeast" and was wondering would it be possible to add this UPGRADES to the SH5. Also historically I knew that in Operation Drumbeat and Distant Waters campaign, players would have to use IX class uboats if they were to travel big distances from their bunkers. Also it would be interesting to operate with class XXI towards late year of 1944 and 1945 just like in SH3. I wonder what other fans of SH5 have to say about it :06:

What type of design programs would I need to construct merchant ships or submarines (Uboats)?:hmmm:

Sh3 use GR files and it was impossible do nothing in the files until genious modders start an amazing work, but itīs still a work in progress

Step By Step and bit by bit is coming to SH5 the " GR2 Editor/Viewer/Extractor/Importer " , with this tool the Modders will be able to make many many new Mods to :sunny: SH5 :yeah: :woot: :rock:

When the app is complete you'll be able to:
- create new GR2 files from scratch
- replace geometry with new geometry (objects)

- replace materials
- add new materials
- replace textures

- add new bones (can do this already)
- edit existing items (change position, rotation, scale, properties)
- export meshes (you can do this already)
- import meshes (you can do this already)

Basically it will open up the GR2 file so that you can do anything you want with it. Right now the GR2 file is the biggest hinderance to modding SH5.

Hi Tonschc,
was it you who quite some time ago posted some amazing pictures of a virtual model of the Bismarck?
I wonder if you or someone else could post those again for possible inspiration.Would a model like that be able to be imported?

When I'm done you'll be able to add any mesh/model to a GR2 file. You'll even be able to create new GR2 files from scratch.

So sometime in the near future there will be a mod that lets you use the superior !X boats :DL
