View Full Version : NTDS symbology
As much as Paradox Interactive mentions that this simulation will be very close to the real military world, are they going then to include NTDS (Naval Tactical Data System) symbology into it ?

No. It uses symbols that look like the unit, so that EVERYONE, not just navy fanatics, can recognize units. It MAY be an option in DLC though.
Thanks, I am not surprise by your answer. I am a little sad but hope that they are going to implement this feature later. :06:

Actually, Jan H, the games' main developer, said that NTDS symbols will likey be available as an option in the future.

I hope so. NTDS is really simple to understand (it's designed to be that way). For those who are not familiar, here is what we're talking about:

These symbols are adapted to the game Harpoon. But the basic air, surface and subsurface symbols are correct.
Perhaps a little more boring than stylized symbology, but clearly decipherable nonetheless.

Even if the developers don't include it, it shouldn't be that difficult for a modder to implement, provided the game is moddable and user-friendly.

NWAC will be VERY moddable: everything is stored in XML files.

That's good news. ;)
