View Full Version : [TEC] - Normal (bump) maps for sub towers?

Dear all,
I'm working a bit with GIMP and I've made some normal maps for the various subs (since I modified the limb holes in the subs, I had to make new normal maps for them, in order not to have ghost-holes on the hulls).
I noticed that, with the normal maps enables, the tower looks more "clear" than the hull. I was wondering if there is the way to add normal maps also for the tower (it seems that the current normal maps are only for the hull).
I searched the forum but I failed to find something on it...

Hello,
I've performed some investigations.
For the moment I'm focused on the S-Class Tower...
1) There is a controller that is called "caustic" that can be added to tower without problems (differently than "UnifiedRenderController" that causes some throubles) that allow you to add caustic effects in the tower (I used it with success, it seems);
2) there is a controller that is called "BumpMap" that seems able to add the bump mapping but the s3d help refers to a "0" texture (that should be the normal_map) and a "1" texture. I can not understand what they are. Does somebody has some clue to give me on them?

Dear all,
In my understanding is nearly impossible to add normals to towers (I failed all trials), but I found a good compromise working and tuning textures and maps.
Hereafter you can find the S-18 with specular mask reworked and new bump map. Now the tower is well integrated with the hull color... I think it is quite good.

I've done new textures (based on RGB colors from Foobar) for all the subs - but with original SH4 hull holes configuration (Foobars has added some holes - I think he depicted a - modified - late war hull configuration).
May I ask some feedback?
