This is actually my full personal collection of German popular music from 1910 to 1945, sorted by year. So if you really hate anachronisms, you can hold off dropping them into the gramophone folder until your campaign reaches the correct year.
Or not.
I actually first made that collection back for SH3 (tried to find the threads I posted back then since they had links to where I put the files then, but it appears the database has eaten everything I posted since 2004 with the exception of stuff after I came back to dive into (sorry, couldn't resist) SH5), but it works just as well with this one so, being a sharing kind and all... :DL
(Not to mention all of the stuff that I've gotten from here over the years. Least I can do in return).
I know that Jimbuna has already done a fantastic job of supplying Kaleuns everywhere with more songs so it may already be out there, but if there is any interest I'd be more than happy to share. I just need a place to put all about 260Mb or so of it. :DL
UPDATE: Okay, finally found a home for all of the files. They can all be downloaded from this link (http://www.gamefront.com/files/user/misha1967).
Sorted into years, so you can drop them in your Gramophone folder as the war advances, although there are actually two files for 1938, but that's because I found another bunch for 1938 later on. They're all different songs.
Hopefully you'll find some enjoyment there if you're one of those Kaleuns who needs a song or two to relax or to drown out the screeching seagulls :03:
Also, if you have a fast connection or don't mind waiting for the whole 288Mb to download, just choose the file called "The Whole Collection.rar" and you'll get it all in one go. They're still split up into individual .rar files within that file, so you won't lose the sorting by year by doing it this way.

I already have them compressed in nice, bite-sized chunks. I just need a place to upload them to where others can download them from. :)

It just struck me too that if you don't mind watching the download bar creeping ever so slowly along or if you have a fast connection, you might want to download the whole thing.
In that case, just download The Whole Collection.rar at the same link location. They're still organized in individual .rar files within that file, and it's only a measly 288Mb or so, so it shouldn't take all that long :)

This is a nice collection. I was just today looking for a specific song, and it was in the 1939er collection. Thanks, mate!

You're welcome, danasan!
And they're all original recordings. Also, they correct something that nags me every time I watch Das Boot: At some point, they're listening to a song called "Sing, Nachtigall Sing", which is a beautiful song. Only one problem, the version they're listening to is with Evelyn Künneke and it wasn't released on record until 1943. There was a version available in 1941, but that one was by Margot Friedlaender. They're both in the collection.
Yeah, I know. I need to take a break :haha:

This is great!!! Yes, Jim has put up a spectacular collection, but there's always room for more, and I especially like them sorted by year. I have some that way in my SH3 collection, which is great with SH3 Commander's 'Date' function. I'll be using these there as well.
Would you mind if I uploaded them to Subsim Downloads?
Thanks for the collection. Downloading now:up:

The French version, "J'attendrai" isn't in there, but kimurajin has it. I have it too, it's just not in the Collection since it's not German. It's a great song, though, and no sub should be without it.
A German version was made in 1939, though ("Komm zurück") and that one IS in the collection. Best to have both!
Sailor Steve: Would you mind if I uploaded them to Subsim Downloads?
Not at all, Sailor Steve! Not too sure about the reliability of this whole Gamefront thing, although they seem pretty good about it considering that it's free, I just didn't have anywhere else to put 'em. On Subsim Downloads they'd be much better off.
Thanks!

Guys, all of you, you're welcome :)
Seriously, though, it's the least I can do in return from all that I've gotten over the years. I'm just glad I can add to the resources of the Best Dang Community of the Internets! :)
I salute you all, vets and noobs alike.

Thank you very much for this!
By the way, is there anyway I can change the files to an Mp3 file so I can listen to the songs on another program? Dankeschön

Yep. They used to be mp3 files all of them, but I converted them to .ogg back in the day because the gramophone in SH3 had a problem with "skipping" when playing mp3 files.
Anyway, if you want to convert them back to mp3, all you have to do is to run them through an audio converter, and they're available for free all over the 'Net. To save you some time, here's the link to the one I use myself:
