The latest release of the LWAMI mod states that ACTUV platforms are available. However, I did not see them after following the install procedure. Is there a secondary procedure, a release delay or another issue preventing their appearance?

I have LWAMI 3.11, but I must have missed the part about the ACTUV platforms. The manual is pretty big, you know.

The thing here is, I don't think that they are playable platforms. LWAMI adds many new platforms to the game, but (with one or two exceptions) none of these are playable. Basically, if you design a new mission you will be able to implement these new platforms but they will be AI and non-driveable.

Besides, why would you want to drive anything other than a 688i, Akula, or Kilo? :)

I hope that clears it up for you. Hopefully someone else will come along shortly (within a few weeks, perhaps) who can chime in about some other details I might have missed.

If you are looking for a mod that adds additional playable platforms you should check out the threads about the AlfaTau mod in the mods forum. I believe they are calling it AlfaTau nowadays, but I could be wrong about that. I don't know much about this mod as I haven't tried it, but it might be more along the lines of what you are looking for.

3.11 contains new models from ACTUV that replace DW/LWAMI models, as well as several new platforms from ACTUV that were not in DW 1.04.

New In Version 3.11

[snip]
* Lots of new models (including DARPA ACTUV imports!) and platforms!

It is 100% impossible for you to have LWAMI 3.11 installed without having the ACTUV platforms, because that would require a different database, which by definition is not the 3.11 database. Models that are missing could simply be caused by the same issue that causes people not to have any of the LWAMI models--skipping the .bat file step.

One possible cause for confusion is that the ACTUV models/platforms added do not include the ACTUVs themselves.* Try looking for other models/platforms from ACTUV..... new platforms include the P-8, Guardian coast guard PC, short range prosecutor, and sport fishing boat. New models include just about every civilian ship from DW 1.04 (+ the container ship) and the Mk54 torpedo.

*I experimented with them, but due to them being sort-of submarine-ish but mostly like a surface ship, I couldn't get the desired behavior from them. I think I left all of the ACTUVs in the graphics package, for those who like to explore the archive.

That is the source of confusion. I was looking for the ACTUV drones, themselves and not the ACTUV Tactics-exclusive units.

It's too bad the drones didn't make it. I was running some tests with a friend of mine in ACTUV Tactics and I concluded that the tests were invalid because all the SSK could do was maneuver and had only its rudimentary sonar package. The ACTUV Simulator was heavily weighted against the SSK. I wanted to run tests with a SSK modeled with all of its gear. I can see your problems rectifying the ACTUV drones into the game since it is all hypothetical arrays. It's a bit of a pity. I liked the idea behind the ACTUV simulator, but it was insufficient for what I wanted to actually analyze and share with everybody. I know I am kind of drifting off-topic, but I was looking to kill two birds with one stone with LWAMI. :)
