View Full Version : Were mines ever an element of Aces of the Deep?

Since the beginning of The War in my trusty canoe, up to early 1941 out of Wilhelmshaven, I have ventured unabashedly through The Channel. Aaaaannnnddd...I am lumbering about in a newly rewarded :-? Type IX.

I had expected to be deep-sixed by now, even if I was still driving the Type II.

Granted, I hope always to deliver the crew to the safety of our harbour, but a program that generates wolfpacks and hedgehog attacks must certainly have developed sea mines? :06:

Sincerely,
Reverie :)

I've never come across mines in either version of Aces of the Deep. Closest thing I've come to strange weapons in a Sub Simulation was the Mystery Booms I used to hear in Silent Hunter 1.3! :D They used to sound as loud as ten DC's being dropped on my sub, but when I popped my head out of the conning tower there was nothing to be seen! No contacts on visual or radars too! :ping: I've come to wonder if they weren't DC's dropped by unseen escorts or shore batteries? :hmmm: Though, I've never been hit by a shore battery! :salute:

Thanks, Reverie!

Hmmmm, perhaps those booms were the missing mines of AOD...
...hmmm. :hmmm:
