Stiebler2_Addon_for_V16A3.
This update patch (from my earlier Stiebler_Addon_for_V16A3 - note the ‘2’ in the new patch name) is now available from my signature below. Full instructions are included with the patch, so I summarise briefly here:
1. The patch is a hard-code fix that can be applied ONLY (at present*) to a legitimate copy of SH3.exe that has already been patched with H.sie’s V1.6A3 ‘Wolf pack’ patch. The Stiebler Addon provides extra functions.
(*This Stiebler2_Addon_for_V16A3 patch *should be* applicable to later H.sie patches of SH3.exe, but this is not guaranteed.)
2. The NEW mods provided with the Stiebler2_Addon_for_V16A3 are these:
a) Reduced Ship Warnings - ends the irritating ‘Ship Sighted’ dialog box (with a fall in time compression to tc=1) when hunting a convoy in ‘light fog’, and a destroyer keeps coming in and out of the mist.
b) Grid Change Mod - once you have patrolled the original grid for 24 hours, you can request another grid square appropriate for your original patrol grid.
c) Corrected bug in the Surrender mod in the earlier ‘Stiebler_Addon_for_V16A3’ patch, which prevented users from receiving the ‘Rescued by Allies/Rescued by U-boat’ alternatives. This mod now functions properly.
The other mods are those provided already with the original ‘Stiebler_Addon_for_V16A3’ patch:
d) CAM-ship mod (prevents the single Hurricane flown off once from a CAM-ship from making repeated attacks over a period of days or even weeks.)
e) ‘Smoke-on-horizon’ mod. Your bridge-watch shouts out ‘Smoke on Horizon, Sir!’ when a convoy (or battle-group) is sighted.
f) Silent-Running mod, which causes your U-boat to sink very slowly when silent-running (pumps no longer function). The Silent-Running mod functions only at depths > 100m.
g) Asdic in shallow-waters fix. Fixes the problem that asdic should be less effective against U-boats in shallow waters.
3. Two subsidiary folders are supplied. One contains key files that you will need to add your SH3 installation, preferably with JScones’ JSGME. The other contains substitute or example files, that should be added to the key files. Full instructions are provided with the patch itself.
4. The Options Selector (version 1.5) is included. Again, this will function only with H.sie patches of SH3.exe from V16A3 onwards. It is now possible to set the H.sie mod options by toggling the appropriate boxes ON/OFF in one dialog box, and to set the Stiebler options in a separate dialog box.
IMPORTANT NOTE: I created the Stiebler2_addon patch with my own preferred options clicked ON, and did all the testing with these preferences. These options are probably not *your* preferred options, so be sure to choose them carefully. In particular, if you do not have a 64-bit computer, then un-check the 4-Gbyte RAM option (top of first dialog box). As always, users of NYGM should ensure that the ‘Realistic Repairs’ option is ticked OFF.
The real interest of the NEW RADIO BUTTON (for changing patrol grids) lies in the fact that, for the very first time, it is possible to link a new control button to the game menu, and to link the new button to original new code for both a mouse-click and a key combination.
This requires some alteration to the user’s menu_1024_768.ini file, for which inserts are required, and then the entire file has to be renumbered. The new release of NYGM 3.6A has all these changes made for you already. Users of other super-mods (eg GWX) will have to make the changes manually, according to the instructions. Be sure to make a back-up of your original menu_1024_768.ini file - the opportunities to cause computer crashes here by mis-typing are numerous.
Stiebler. (Release date 19/01/2012.)

Just decided to change to funny named great mod:DL and this pops up.
Thanks man.

Does it give more than one patrol grid change per patrol?
I used to use WB's mid patrol orders and yet another new patrol grid could be obtained by exiting the game and then reloading,
cannot run the options selector,
always got the error message when have run the Patch_SH3.bat "cannot find your switches...realistic repair times blabla..."
if not have run the batch file i can start the options selector on a h.sie patched file, but gives me another error window when pressing the stiebler mods button of course.
Perhaps this is helpful, if not just ignore.
I guess others will have similar problems, but maybe it's my litthe exotic environment Xp64bit...
Edit: negative on Win7 32 :-(
The batch file runs fine to make this clearer, it's just the options-selector
AAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrghhhhhhhhhhhh, I am still on patrol....!
Joking, thanks, Stiebler! :salute:

Hello Stiebler,
the correct order is in JSGME:
1) Supplement to V16A3 (JSMGE)
2) O2Gauges-v2
3) Stiebler2_Addon_for_V16A3 (your mod overwrite h.sie´s mod, correct?)
right??
Thank you for your mod!
Best regards
Josef

Troubles with Options Selector 1.5:
I have again extracted my Stiebler2_Addon_for_V16A3.7z patch (the identical file I have uploaded for other users) into a new folder, for testing.
1. Start with H.sie's V16A3 'Wolf-pack' patch, to give his patched version of 1.6A3.
2. I have confirmed that, if you use the Options Selector on this patch, then it gives an error message 'Can't find your switches...' when you try to use the Options Selector V 1.5 (which was defined for use after the Stiebler Addons have been added). This is not surprising, because the Stiebler patches have not yet been added.
However, the H.sie patch options can be altered in the usual way (as intended). Confirm that you have "H.sie Version 1.6A3" in the top left version box of the Options Selector.
3. Now apply the new Stiebler2_Addon_for_V16A3 patch, to your Hsie-patch of SH3.exe, according to the instructions. Verify that you still have "H.sie Version 1.6A3" in the top left box.
You should now find that the Stiebler dialog box also works perfectly. It works perfectly for me.
4. If you are still having difficulties:
a) Check that important H.sie version number again.
b) Check that your new version of SH3.exe (after using the Stiebler patch) is different from the original H.sie version (eg, different date and time), which is now renamed to SH3.old.
c) Check that you have placed the H.sieContents.txt file (date 10 Nov 2011), the StieblerContents.txt file (date 10 Jan 2012), the HsieOptionsSector.exe file (version 1.5, date 10 Nov 2011) and your newly Stiebler-patched SH3.exe in the same folder.

@Josef
did you succeed? me not :88)
The options selector just won't start at all after the batch was excecuted.
I did all the checks @Stiebler did recommented.
i'm using the "green pepper" sh3.exe...
Edit:
the patched file is also no longer accessible by the "old" options selector 1.3 from h.sie's 16A3 patchkit - same error message...

I am completely baffled by the difficulty that people are having with the Options Selector.
I have created a new H.sie 'Wolfpacks' mod V16A3 (with Hsie's patch, starting from a legitimate DVD release of SH3), then patched it again with the identical file Stiebler2_Addon_for_V16A3.7z patch that I have uploaded into my SubSim signature.
Then, again using the files that I have downloaded from my signature, I have used the Options Selector v1.5 to make the mod selections without any difficulty at all. Then I used a hex editor to confirm that my choices have been altered in the new, patched SH3.exe file.
For those who are still having difficulties ticking the mod options for the Stiebler2 patch, then I suggest you do it directly with a hex editor. I use "XVI32", reliable and free. Load your patched file, and alter the options that you want starting at address 0x14FF00 (after running XVI32 and loading your patched SH3.exe file, just press CTRL-G, then 14FF00 in order to go to the start of the options). A value of 0 means that the mod is inactive, FF means that the mod is active, and the order of the mods is the same as in the file StieblerContents.txt.
In fact, all the Stiebler2 mods are active by default, so if you don't mind if all my mods active, then you don't need the Stiebler-mods part of the Options Selector anyway. If I have read earlier posts here correctly, then you can still use Options Selector 1.5 to make changes to the H.sie options anyway.
The only other issue that might affect the Options Selector occurs if your file of original SH3.exe has somehow not patched properly with H.sie's V16A3 patch. Or perhaps you have added some other experimental patch that has also affected the SH3.exe file.
Otherwise, I must point out that the Options Selector v1.5 was also supplied with my earlier original Stiebler_Addon_for_V16A3 patch, and there were no complaints about it.
Go back to the beginning. Obtain a legitimate copy of SH3.exe, and patch it only with H.sie's V16A3 wolf-pack patch. Then try again with my new patch from there.

It works properly with Stiebler_Addon_for_V16A3 but does not with Stiebler2_Addon_for_V16A3.

I have now examined the problem reported with the Options Selector 1.5 above, and for which SquareSteelBar has reported a work-around.
1. There is NO problem (or bug) with Options Selector V1.5. It functions exactly as planned.
2. There IS however a problem with the patch-kit program, created by others, that patches previous code. The original program authors gave no details about how this patch functions when it replaces bytes in memory. However, it has become clear that it does NOT simply replace a selected series of bytes in the target file with new bytes at the same address. Apparently it checks the bytes it is replacing first, and alters the replacement data according to what it finds.
Specifically, the original H.sie Wolf-packs patch created a version of SH3.exe V16A3 with the switch for 'Realistic Repair Times' set to a value of FF (= ON). This causes CTDs with NYGM, therefore my copy of H.sie's V16A3 has the switch set to 00 (= OFF). I created the patchkit from the NYGM version.
If the NYGM version is patched with the Stiebler2_Addon_for_V16A3, everything works perfectly, and the 'Realistic Repairs' switch remains unchanged at 0. If H.sie's original V16A3 is patched with the Stiebler2_Addon, the 'Realistic Repairs' switch is set to 'FE'. (Should have been left unchanged, because the patch was not asked to change this byte from the original 00 to 00.)
Options Selector 1.5, which contains good error-checking code, immediately detected the 'unknown' value of FE and complained and stopped. It cannot be expected to make changes to switches that have been set apparently randomly; who knows what other problems might also be present? (Also, was the byte for the 4 GByte switch for 64-bit computers set correctly?)
[I have mentioned all this for the benefit of anyone else who might consider using this 3rd-party patch-kit for any purpose.]
SquareSteelBar has already given a good work-around. *Before* you use the Stiebler2 patch-kit on H.sie's V16A3 version of SH3.exe, then make these changes:
a) Use Options Selector 1.5 to toggle the 'Realistic Repairs' option OFF, and ALSO toggle OFF the 4-GByte RAM switch.
b) Then patch with the Stiebler2_patch.
c) Then use the Options Selector 1.5 again to make the final changes that you require.
I intend to release a new version of my patch, called Stiebler2A_Addon_for_V16A3 (note the '2A'), whose initial settings for the switches are exactly equal to those of the original H.sie V16A3 patch. The new patch is all now completed, I await only a German translation of the English texts three posts previously. If no one can help, then I shall make my own translations into German within 3 days.

Stiebler2A_addon_for_V16A3 now re-released.
Download from my signature.
I think that answers Jaxa's question also, and my patch is not combined with H.sie's release(s) since we work to different time-cycles.
I've tested my new upload, and it seems to work OK to upgrade the standard H.sie V16A3 'Wolf-packs' patch. However, anyone who has customised the switches on his version of H.sie's V16A3 had better start again with another original version of V16A3.
Better luck this time!

@SSB:
Works as intended. :up:Thank goodness for some good news!
Two minor points for all users:
1. The XXXX in the 2923 line of en_ and de_menu.txt MUST begin at the 17th character. Therefore I have been forced to alter SSB's German text very slightly:
from:
2923=Neues Planquadrat[.]XXXX befohlen...
to:
2923=Neues Quadrat[...]XXXX befohlen...
([.] = one space, [...]= 3 spaces.)
2. The Surrender mod. When first I released this mod, it was possible to return to the main career menu, after your U-boat was sunk, and start again with a new patrol. Perhaps with a reloaded game from the patrol in which you had been later sunk.
After rearrangement by H.sie of his extra RAM for SH3.exe, it is now *essential* to exit from SH3 completely after you have been sunk, then reload SH3 again. That will reset all variables.

how to plug it into SH3 game?
Ive succeeded in installing the hsie exe package properly
Now, i am cunfused ...
The installing method and installing sequence?
Directly copy the Stiebler2_Additional_files_V16A3 ,Stiebler2_Addon_for_V16A3 file into the JSMODS file?
Or the hsie exe patching and installing style

@Scottlu:
Read this file and all will become clear:
Stiebler2_V16A3_Readme.txt (included with the Stiebler2A_patch_for_V16A3.)
You should have no difficulty if you have already patched SH3.exe with H.sie's V16A3 patchkit.
You will also need to install H.sie's mod folder with JSGME. Do this before you add the Stiebler2_Addon folder with JSGME.

Moin Stiebler,
I am trying to activate your CAM-ship Mod in the Hsie Option Selector (v1.5) for SH3.
I ticked everything but the "Wolfpk less contact reports" option (and the **Not Used** of course).
When I push the Stiebler Mods button, I have a pop up window that says:
"Cannot find your switches in file SH3.exe at CAM-ship Mod
All switches must have 0 or FF, with at least one FF."
I RTFM'd but I can not identify the problem. I am missing something but what? :hmmm:
edit: 1 precision: there is no "CAM-ship Mod" option present in the Hsie list of mods.

@Victor Schutze:
This is another example of the problem caused by trying to patch a previous patch which the user has already altered. It upsets the values for switches inserted by the new Stiebler2A_addon_for_V16A3, with the result that the Options Selector believes that false values have been used for the switches and stops and complains.
See my post #19 above in this thread. The solution is to re-use (or re-create) H.sie's original V16A3 patch, just as H.sie first made it, without changing any of the switches until AFTER you have applied the Stiebler2A patch.
(H.sie has advised me to use a diiferent patch kit, the one that he uses!)

Important Note for all users of file de_menu.txt:
Concerning the Surrender Mod:
At the time of surrender (when the U-boat is self-sunk), my code in the Stiebler2A_addon_for_V16A3 searches for the key phrase:
"U-boat destroyed".
Therefore, German users should make the following changes to existing lines in their copies of de_menu.txt:
;; It is **ESSENTIAL** to retain the English phrase "U-boat destroyed".
;; Required for Stiebler 'Surrender' hard-code patch.
560=U-boat destroyed.
561=U-boat destroyed durch Kollision.
562=U-boat destroyed durch Überdruck.
563=U-boat destroyed durch Wassereinbruch.
[Note the exact spelling, including 'b' (not 'B') for U-boat.]
Sorry about that. It would take a lot of extra code to provide a search for the divided German phrase 'Boot [...] verloren'.
This announcement does not affect users of en_menu.txt.
