Question For German Capitains

I noticed in my Mod german launguage pack when a torpedo is fired , The crewmember anouces Fired !! Is that the correct term used in firing torpedos? , Or is it LOS !! ?

They say "Fired", like in english or does it just sound like that? I would assume that they originally said "Los!". The german worded for "Fired" would be "gefeuert".

I will check what my version says. Which mods are you running? I can imagine they say "Feuer" <Foier>, that would an imagible expression.

In a U-boat, the correct order for firing the torpedo would indeed be "Los" or better "Rohr eins - los" or "Rohr zwei los" depending on the tube that is to be "fired".
The answer of the torpedo man to answer that the torpedo has left its tube would be "Torpedo laeuft" for torpedo is running, usually followed by the report of the hydrophone officer who would then add "Torpedo laeuft normal" meaning it is on its planned way (for no torp circle, or engine shutdown)

"Feuer" for fire would be ordered on surface ships or land units, there is also the expression of "Feuer frei" which would mean that everyone would be looking for his own target and is free to fire.

As far as i can tell, the crewman confirms the fired torpedo by saying "ist los" (is out / running) or "im Wasser" (in the water). Or as Catfish said "Torpedo läuft" (torpedo running) - It's definetly not "gefeuert" (fired).
But, what i know, regarding guns, "Feuer frei" is just an expression for "start fire" or "fire at will", and doesn't mean "choose any target and fire at will". Usually the targets are advised by any officer.

I'll check again by my german version.

I wanted to have german speaking crew members after all its a OU-Boat . In sh3 I never had that so I wanted here In SH5 !! . I do recall Most of Of I hear in documentries , when The crew fires a torpedo, The term That I heard often is "LOS" , But having this Mod when on in ShV . When I fire A torpedo Its fired ! . So I wanted to ask !

Before I put in my 2-cents worth, My German extends to a pitiful college semester on the subject and reading medieval "fechtbuchs" on German swordplay. Any native German speaker is more than welcome to correct me.

"los" in German is similar to the English verb, "go".

"Rohr Eins, los!"="Tube one, go!"

An example of this context comes (surprisingly enough) from the German dub of Spaceballs. Dark Helmet orders "Wahnsinnige Geschwindigkeit und los!" just before the iconic scene. Anyone who has seen the movie in English knows that the line is "Ludicrous speed, go!" The translation seems pretty direct.

The "fire at will" order, already stated as "Feuer Frei" literally translates into "fire free", which has equally obvious meaning.

Fascinating. I always assumed "los" translated to English as "loose", which as an order would mean to let it loose, which would be pretty much the same. Learn something new every day. :sunny:

"Los geht's" = Let's go

"Hölle brach los" = hell broke loose (very similar)

Have you tried either of the Das Boot sound mods? Another solution would be to raid the SH3 sounds. The use "Rhror eins...los!" In fact there is a sound mod for SH3 that doubles the sounds: "Rhror eins..." "Rhror eins..." "LOS!" "Los!"

I don't know why they changed them for SH5.
