Are the stations in DW modeled according to a specific P3C version or are the stations just modeled in a functional way but not how they really look like?

This station (http://www.einsatz.bundeswehr.de/portal/a/einsatzbw/!ut/p/c4/TYvRCsIwDEX_qNkabJ1vfoXOF2nXMAJbO2p04tebPghy4OReLo EbKDm8eA7CJYcFrjBOfIq7iXuiO3F-BPlofZuVEofIS4JL-0pkppJJmoWysHquQUo1W6mytOVZqy6GE4zY4wGPlhDRqltDvU5 T94_z3vnBD9g7cs5b2_2AbV3PX0WzWLg!/) seems to look like an upgraded P3C with more modern avionics?

Take *everything* in DW with a grain of salt.

Also: The Germans aren't likely to have the same acoustic suite as the Americans, etc, so just because they're the same airframe doesn't make the insides the same.

Another thing to keep in mind is that since DW deals with modern naval warfare, most of the information that would be pertinent to the sim is under some degree of confidentiality and was modeled with general public knowledge of capabilities to avoid security breaches. I wouldn't take modeling too seriously simply because Sonalysts could only go so far with it for the aforementioned security reasons.

The interfaces within may not reflect the equipment on the real P3C with 100% accuracy. It can't....for national security reasons. But I do believe that the principles of ASW, ASuW, Maritime interdiction, recon, and other P3C missions can be simulated with a high level of realism anyway. Based on past comments, I think we get an excellent (and pretty accurate) representation of what operating a P3 is like.

don't doubt this and it makes a lot of fun :).

Imho all stations on all platforms are completely made up.

They are, but some of them capture the "gist" better than others.

The biggest problem in DW is that its propagation model is a total joke. The other problem is that its ocean is far too sterile. In most missions you have one or two token fishing boats, when in the real world you'd have dozens of interferers making it hard to find your targets and biologics all over the place, plus you'd expect a lot more air traffic too, especially in missions near land or with carrier groups in them. The worst thing though is the datalink finding contacts too easily and dumping them on you for free.

All in all, it's either way too hard to see anything or way too easy in DW; it's never "just right" imo.

Actually.. having a step-father who was in the ASW community as a flight engineer on a P-3C, I can tell you that I have sat at every console ON a P-3C. During the airshows they would set up a plane as a static display. They would run a APU and bring all the equipment up and lets the military kids play with it so they could see what thier dads did when they were away.

No, they are NOTHING like the ones in game. Not even close. They do provide the same basic functionality, but if you saw then IRL, you would be rather confused.

Things got REAL interesting after I joined the service myself and wound up in the Submarine community. Suddenly I was not welcome at all on the airframes.

Keep in mind, nothing stays the same in terms of the displays, especially now with the Navy's push on ARCI. Even if the displays were remotely correct when DW was made in 2004 (which as mentioned before, take everything with a grain of salt), it's unlikely they'd look correct today. I will however throw DW a bone in that its broadband displays aren't *terrible.* :D

The firing station for the 688i looks almost exactly like what I saw in the little room in front of the torpedo room when my old friend from ages ago invited me onto his boat for a tour while it was in dock.

That's probably one of the *least* correct screens in the game.
