Do you have an old disk? If so you need the 'getstarforceoffmyinstall/noCD' thing :D
And either don't install in default location, or disable UAC. :yep:

Vendor is correct, if you are using Commander with GWX3 you also need to install the config files for the two of them to work together properly.
Also, it's unclear whether or not you installed a separate instance of JSGME on your computer... it's included with GWX3 so the most you should need to do is update to the latest version.
GWX3 should've created a desktop shortcut to the instance of JSGME that it installed in the game folder - when you open that, you should see all the optional GWX mods that it also put in the MODS folder it created for you.
Edit: and HBB is also correct about Starforce, if your copy of the game includes Starforce it will not want to play nice with Win7. Also UAC may interfere with attempts to mod games installed into the Programs folder so it's best to put your game installation elsewhere on your hard drive.
...thanks all
my disc is focus media patched to 1.4 and i beleive star force free
'it's included with GWX3 so the most you should need to do is update to the latest version.'
thanks frau that explains stuff, now i'll have to uninstall the other one and start again.:salute:
'Vendor is correct, if you are using Commander with GWX3 you also need to install the config files for the two of them to work together properly.'
not sure how to implement this when i get it - does it run its own course when installing or is there a 'readme' to follow - thanks Vendor:salute:
sorry. dont know what UAC is ?
cheers
You are welcome, files are located at the link I posted above, here's another link about UAC,

What you want is this:

It's a self-installer for the necessary config files.

UAC = User Account Control, which is either the greatest safeguard for your computer ever invented or a gigantic PITA or somewhere in between depending on one's individual perspective. On my rig, it's turned off - but from what I understand it can make modding any game installed in the Programs folders(s) a real headache since it's designed to prevent changes being made to files located there.
...thanks frau with all the help, i'll get to it tomorrow now. my heads spinning with it all and im off to bed
cheers:yeah:

I think you need to go into the same place you would go to see the status of the Windows Firewall and related security stuff. I can't remember what it's called, Security Settings or something? I think you can get there from the Control Panel.
Edit: found some instructions.

I was going to be all patronising and say something along the lines of if you don't know how to disable it you probably shouldn't be disabling it, but then I realised that when I first came across it I didn't know either, so I'll shut up and get back in my corner. Just make sure you keep up with your anti-virus/malware stuff.
*whispers* @FK - do us all a favour and post a picture of the worlds ugliest woman and pretend it's you - just to stop Vendor drooling all over my screen :nope:

thanks again for all your help. i have just realised why i have lost speech in game: i have been tinkering with TC AND, like a clever boy, i decided to Read TFM in SHCommander to discover that this can mess with speech and other stuff too - HEY, HOW ABOUT THAT!
...its amazing what you find in these manuals. anybody'd think they were written for the fun of it :woot:

What are these man-u-als you speak of :hmmm:
I didn't even know Commander came with a manual  I just keep reading Steve's posts to find out what else it can do.

cheersSomething to keep in mind when you install things that need file modifications afterwards: never install is so it ends up in C:\Program Files\ or C:\Program Files (x86)\
Alter the install path to folder that you choose. Usually you get the option of specifying it by clicking a customize button or something. Rarely are you forced to install into a specific folder.

oh great. thats where my stuff has gone - into (x86)...so why's that?
and where should it all go?

x86 is the 32-bit program's home, whereas normal Program Files is now the 64-bit program's home.

Didn't know that...I thought x86 was still 64-bit and W7 OS way of protecting the core program files :hmmm:
...im still unsure wether or not ive done the right thing. it was running well last night.......:hmmm:

Nope, on a 64-bit OS the Program Files is for 64-bit programs, and the Program Files x86 is for the older (hence the x86 architecture reference) 32-bit programs. That's not to say that the programs have to be old, I think most things are still being churned out in 32-bit format atm. :-?
At work our developer refused to alter the code to look for the x86 file over the defaulted Program Files for installs so on 64-bit systems we had fun and games :damn:
