Can one insert anyhow fire (low/medium/big) on a ship (node/controller) with the S3D? Thus the ship should already burn without bombardment at different places! I have seen something like that already with SH3 / 4 as burning wreck (object)!

Maybe you can create an invisible funnel (cosh) and assign the material hex ID of "fire_big" as the effect, instead of the default ship smoke.

I used this method to give modern & old fashioned ships in the Merchant Fleet Mod different types of smoke, & I don't see why it wouldn't work with fires. The effect will work regardless of whether or not the vessel is in motion; I found this frustrating for my ships, but it's perfect for a burning [motionless] wreck.

there is a ship, plane-fire damage mod by The DarkWraith that may save you some time.

search under the mod's name or send a PM to TheDarkWraith. I have seen him handle SH5 forum. He also has a mod for depth charge wakes.
