Already assembled and painted although you have a choice of undercarriages up or down usually and the parts are a push-in fit.

Very nice shots as always Jim, do you have ZH540 there? She's our local bird, seen her come over the house quite a few times.

You thinking of getting a Merlin or Apache? The WAH-64 in particular would look very nice with the AAC birds you have there.

Nope, no Scouts or Wasps have been released, which is a pity.

There is a Gazelle due out later this year though which I have on pre-order.

ZH540 is a limited run of only 250 and currently fetches that much in £'s...I have considered purchasing her but with the three I already have in the collection if I do eventually make the purchase it will only be because I want the full set.

The closest I currently have is ZH541 and was limited to 1450 pieces...that costs over £100 these days.

There is no Merlin or Apache due to be released but I do have the first Puma on pre-order.

Oberon
08-08-12, 10:17 AM
Ooooh, a Puma, very nice. :yeah: And a Gazelle on the way, I like the Screaming Drumstick, probably to do with Wargame: European Escalation in which it's a very useful recon unit, although I really wouldn't want to fly one in a hot zone, too much perspex/glass, too little armour.
Shame about the Merlin and Apache, but to be honest I don't know if they'd fit within the time-frame of your collection which seems to be between the 1950s-1990s, which, let's face it, was the glory days of aviation because we had a budget.
I wonder if they'll ever release one of the Sioux, that would make for an interesting model. :yep:

Jimbuna

I only ever had one flight in a Puma, and it was great :yeah: - from Benson low level to Gloucestershire where we practised several hovers (a few feet off the deck) in various farmers' fields, then a couple of circuits of Brize Norton (where we were based), then a lap around Silverstone whilst some Porsches were driving round, finished off low over Milton Keynes getting slower and lower wondering what we're doing. As we were circling a large building that turned out to be a hospital we crossed over a set of lights with a police car at the front - we disappeared behind a hedge to the helipad (bit of grass with a H on it!) with the loadie hanging out advising the pilot, when the police car appeared the loadie told the pilot to get out of there - we didn't hang around for some reason. :hmm2:

That happened with (I think) a Lynx a while ago in the field across from where we used to live, came down, hovered just a few feet off the deck, some guys jumped out, stood around for a minute or two, jumped back in and then it climbed up and off again. Was quite impressive. :yep:

Funny you should say that because I know of a firm that has many a diecast submersible variant...truth is I simply don't have the room.

Yeah the B&D is a godsend for those odd jobs, especially as I no longer have a workbench mounted vice in the garage.

Not sure how detailed it is though...

Speaking of subs, I thought I'd managed to grab a die-cast Astute model whilst in York, alas though it is plastic, still quite a nice addition to the collection though. :yep:

Jim, I don't know the costs of these but I think they'll fit perfectly in your collection -

Although you may need a slightly bigger cabinet.

That F-104 used to be on a local farm when I was a kid, it's lovely to see it restored to such a high standard and still in the UK. :yeah:

These models Jim are showing us, is without no doubt some fine samples, however..

They are useless...espacially in the old and the new fleet command (it is a naval sim game.)

When I have a scenario with some English figterplane like the Sea Harrier I change it to some French or Russian fighter planes.

I tell you even the MIG23 or the old Skyhawk have no problems shooting down a Sea Harrier.

Maybe it's the programmer, that hates English fighter planes and love Russian and French fighter planes.

sorry for this little off topics

Ah, right I understand now and yes I do suspect the programmer is showing a fair amount of bias against the Harrier.

The best/fairest way is to compare the aircraft only when actual/factual encounters took place so I'll give it a go.

Argentina lost 20 Skyhawks during the Falklands conflict and the Harrier was credited with destroying 8 of them.

MirageIII losses were 2 and 1 was as a direct result of the actions of a Sea Harrier.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argentine_air_forces_in_the_Falklands_War

In comparison the UK lost 9 Harriers, none of which were as a result of any engagements with Argentinian aircraft.

http://www.naval-history.net/F63braircraftlost.htm

The Argentinian pilots were very well trained and extremely brave but IMHO their aircraft were no match for the Harrier.

From what I can make out (not from Wiki) - 899 NAS was a UK-based training squadron, during the pre-conflict-proper panic some of its Harriers and crew were transferred to join both 800 and 801 NAS.

^COOL! Those big scoops on the front never go outta style! :D The Original: My #1 choice in propeller simulations for sheer speed, versatiity and firepower! http://ichef-1.bbci.co.uk/news/624/media/images/75014000/jpg/_75014632_hawker.jpgActually: As soon as the aircraft entered service, it was apparent the profile of the Typhoon resembled a Fw 190 from some angles, which caused more than one friendly fire (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friendly_fire) incident, with Allied anti-aircraft units and other fighters. This led to Typhoons being marked up with high visibility black and white stripes (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invasion_stripes#Hawker_Typhoon) under the wings, a precursor of the markings applied to all Allied aircraft on D-Day. :rock:http://ichef-1.bbci.co.uk/news/304/media/images/75016000/jpg/_75016662_75013675.jpg
