View Full Version : Is it OK to re-install SH5 in a different location?

I remember reading TDW's post about the problems that re-installing SH5 in a different location can cause (but I can't seem to find that post), so I was wondering if this can in fact cause any problems?

For example, I've already re-installed SH5 three or four times, every time in a different folder after uninstalling it. I currently have it installed. Should I do something about it?

Run a search for anything SH5-related and delete it. The run a registry cleaner. When that's done there shouldn't be any trace of SH5 on your computer to interfere with a new install. It's those leftover traces that cause trouble.

[edit] Oh, I missed the part where you have it installed now. Just play it and enjoy it. If any problems crop up and you feel the need to do another reinstall, then do as I suggested.

The only 'problem' is the SH5 installer does not update the registry with the new installation location when you reinstall. It's not really a problem unless you're using my UIs mod because I read the registry for the installation path to get to the files I need. I updated the SH Validator app so that it has the ability to update the user's registry with the correct installation path to overcome this 'problem'.

I am using NewUI mod, so I'll definitely run your validator, thanks for the info and the hard work!

No any problem if to follow Sailor Steeve' recomendations. I prefer not to install PC games on system-drive 'C', and SH5 is running perfect with appr. 80 mods been installed on the other drive:yep:

It would be nice to have a Multi-SH5 application.

Then one could have multiple SH5 installs with various configurations and simply run the Multi-SH5 app to select which install is going to be used.

Yes, true words! A Tool similar as for SH3 (Multi-SH3) for SH5 that would be great...
