It is the Japanischer Handelskreuzerr for Silent Hunter 3 by Rowi58 (Thanks) and added to the British roster.

The question is : Is there a camo skin for that ship and if not how can I make one?

Thanks in advance.

Personally I think a tramp steamer would make a better AMC.

Tramp steamers are small vessels and used as Qships (ships with consealed weapons that looked like undefented ships to lure Uboats to a surface attack)
Jimbuna has already made a mod.
The AMCs were a different project.
This vessel displaces 14000 tons and it is very heavily armed though not a match for a capital warship as it was intented to be.

Unfortunately, this is not very historic for an Armed Merchant Cruiser, and there is already one in the game, the British Auxiliary Cruiser, which is more accurate. All of the 57 commonwealth ships that were converted to AMC's were passenger ships. Their purpose was for defense against German Armed Merchant Raiders and to stop German blockade runners. They were never intended as a counter to capital ships, although two, HMS Jervis Bay (http://navalwarfare.blogspot.com/2008/12/hms-jervis-bay-f-40.html) and HMS Rawalpindi (http://ww2db.com/ship_spec.php?ship_id=509) fought gallant actions against major German warships.

Most were later converted to either Troop Transports, Hospital ships, or Infantry Landing Ships. One, the Pretoria Castle, was converted to an escort carrier.

Yes indeed. Here are photographs of all AMCs lost, and none of them look like that model.

I knew that.
On the other hand, this is a game and I really liked very much that ship when I saw it. So I added it to my game.
That's all. I just wanted an other type of AMC in my game.

Cool. :sunny: Nothing wrong with that. I guess we thought you were pitching it to the rest of us as a mod we could download, and we who are always crying for more real ships objected to one that wasn't. Sorry about that.

Very creative. I never thought the M01B skin would work well on that hull - it's designed to be applied to ships with the Liberty Ship as a parent unit. But whatever works.

Agreed. I thought it was a mod as well. The skin looks nice.

Well , I gave it a shot and it worked.
I will try more combinations in the future and let you know.

Here I am again with another question similar to this thread

I want to change skins on the original Auxiliary cruiser of the game but I can not find the file in the data/sea folder.
Where is it?

I have also noticed that other files are "missing" from this folder ie the Tugboat but the armed tugboat is there.

Any ideas please?

In GWX,
the British Auxiliary Cruiser is the NAXC
the Tugboat is the NATF

Thank you for that.

May I ask why are those ships stated as follows in the Englishnames.cfg:
TugBoat=Tugboat
LTgBoat=Tugboat
BrAuxCruiser=Auxiliary Cruiser.
It confused me.

The first name is the official name listing for the game. The second name is the way it shows up in the Recognition Manual.

I remember a conversation during development of GWX 2.0?
About nameing conventions used.
It totally confused me to the point I could not find any Unit that I was assigned to work on.
:nope:
BBW did send me a document that translated all the Units to make it easier to find what I was looking for.
:haha:

I'll need to dig up some old DVD's to see if I still have that list saved.
I know it's not on the HD's as I searched all 10 of them today.
:doh:
