The old setkey program might have had instructions on how to use it. The program can still be downloaded but there are no instructions. Maybe there were never any issued? If you have instructions or a tutorial, please post a link. If you cannot post a link, please send me a PM and we will figuring something out.

I assume you mean the Help bar for the SetKeyProgram? How do I activate the program?

No activation/installation needed.
Double click on 'SetKeys.exe', point it to your 'Commands_en.cfg' or 'Commands_de.cfg' when asked - that's it.

I looked at the cfg files. They do not constitute a tutorial. I have no idea how to translate them. Any suggestions? l

Well, we may be(?) getting somewhere. I am not sure I have the same program as you. I have the GWX 3.0 Setkeys. When I extract the files, they include a mod folder for JGSME, a program to run and three cfg files. When I open the cfg files, they do not look like the one displayed above. That is why I claimed there was no tutorial. Can you provide me the link to open the document or explain to me what I am doing that is incorrect? I appreciate your help. Maybe I was asking the wrong question, but the screen shot above may what I have been trying to find. My download of the Setkeys was from subsim site and the post was by irish1958.

...When I open the cfg files, they do not look like the one displayed above...I don't understand your problem.
The displayed above is no cfg file. It's SetKey's GUI.

Do what I wrote in post #4.

BTW did you read the 'readme.rtf'?

...Finally, this utility was coded using MS Visual C++.NET, so the .NET framework 1.1 is required....

What OS do you use?

I got the program and opened it. It did not work in SH4, but I may have set it up incorrectly. I was trying to set up the torpedoes so that once I clicked on High speed torpedoes all of the torpedo doors would open when I taped the Shift + F keys. Here is my recent post in the SH4 mods forum. No one there has been able to help so far.

I tried to set the torpedoes to high speed using the SetKey program. It did not work. If someone can get this to work and explain what I did wrong, let me know. Maybe the program does not work with SH4? It is more likely I did not do it correctly.

Here is what I did.

"I activated SetKey.exe in the mods forum. That brought up the programming screen. I went to torpedo speed first and then to torpedo tubes, as follows.

1. Set the torpedo speed to Shift + F key
2. Set torpedo tubes 1-6 to Shift + F key

I saved the set up.

Began TMO and went to the periscope station. There I set the dial for torpedo speed to High and then I tapped the Shift + F key.

Nothing happened.

If we can get this operating, then I can experiment with other combinations."

My computer is new. It is a laptop. The operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium.

I tried to run SetKeys on Windows 7 --> doesn't work.
No SH4 here... can't help you for this.

I think 'SetKeys' neither works on Win7 nor with SH4 since it comes from the very early days of SH3 [done by Cavalier88]. http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/8439/tknow.gif

Maybe that's the better choice:

SH Key Mapper 1.0 (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=168297) done by jimimadrid

You may be right that it is not compatible. Jimimadrid's Keymapper will not work because it can only alter keys that have exisiting use in SH4, and will not create new combinations. He already weighed in via a post in the SH4 mods forum. The problem is that no one in SH4 seems to have a handle on the SH3 program, except maybe irish1958, but he is too busy right now to work on fixes. Thanks for your help.
