I just reinstalled SH4 on my new gaming laptop and finally have time to get back into modding. So in order to familiarize myself with all the different file types and S3d again I decided to revisit some of my older subs and rework some things.
One of the things I am reworking is how the files install with JSGME. I know there's been a problem with the unitparts.upc files and their numbering so in order to try and fix that confusion I've split up the files.
I've set the files up like this for example:
NSS_Blackwolf_Base: this holds all the critical data for the sub and models.
NSS_Blackwolf_(Stock; TMO; RFB; FOTRS): Holds the subs main .upc, unitparts.upc, upgradepacks.upc, and weapons.upc.
Really all this does it help make the install between the various super mods easier.
Now for the various updates.
Blackwolf:
-Adjusted the torpedo layout so it's not the same as the stock subs.
-Fixed periscope height as well as adjusted periscope depth to match.
NSS Shark:
-Adjusted the periscope depth
-Fixed some hull texture errors between the conning tower and the main hull. This mainly had something to do with the X2 and conning tower disappearances I got when I reinstalled the mod on my machine.
Titan:
-Fixed displacement values for being submerged and surfaced. This allows for smoother dives and surfacing of the sub.
-Upped the ballast flood speeds to balance out the change in displacement.
-Removed rear diveplane drag in order to improve dive and surface times.
-Adjusted the torpedo layout and added more torpedo storage.
-Adjusted the hull resistance for stock and TMO respectively. (Other super mods pending)

The files install with JSGME
The file types are split up for the super mods and stock game. In order to install the subs correctly you need to put the Subname_Base into the mods folder. Next you choose the second sub folder for the mod you are running, either TMO, RFB or FOTRS. If you do not have any super mod instaled choose the Stock folder.
An example would be like this in JSGME:
TriggerMaru_Overhaul_2
TMO_Update_20_to_22
BlackWolf_Base
BlackWolf_TMO

you can fix that if you have the blackwolf mod that contains the files to get the titan deck guns too work.

The Interceptor is coming along just fine. I'll post and update on the progress once I have all the nodes for the conning tower interior in the correct place.
For right now I wouldn't worry about that issue. It will be fixed when I put the updates up. I'm looking to get everything set and ready to go by the weekend.

Just a little update, the files for TMO and stock are complete. I am now working on the files for FOTRS. I wanted to have these guys done a week ago but the Interceptors interior gave me a few issues.

So which file do put into JSGME????? I never installed either of these mods yet. I know I have JSGME setup correctly cause I am using a Ohio mod I got from here. Also can some one tell hoe to get a surface ship. Please help...I want the black wolf and if possible the titan lol

you must install first Blackwolf_Base, then version for supermod you use, in your case Blackwolf_Stock

Question concerning installing all these subs.
I understand that you have to use the "base" mod first. I get confused though if I install all 3 of them.
Do I install the "base" first for all of them? like-

titan base and then the specific models...
OR
do I install the base and model like this-

Hi there, fairly new here (although I've been playing SH3 since 2007, and SH4 since 2008-ish), and I was just wondering:
Can anyone re-upload the campaign files to the Titan Superfortress mod? I know they've been re-uploaded several times by various different people, but GameFront has this annoying habit of deleting downloads for strange reasons.

i have the campaign files for the blackwolf and titan but they are modified versions. It's only the startpoints that i have changed.

Doomgiver, firstly do you have any supermods installed?
If not, then go to JSGME and add the relevant files.
For the Shark:
NSS_Shark_Base
NSS_Shark_Stock (ignore any warnings)
For the Blackwolf:
BlackWolf_Base
BlackWolf_Stock
For the Titan, it's a bit more complicated. The Titan needs:
BlackWolf_Base (this is for the deck guns, because the Blackwolf deck guns are used by the Titan)
Titan_Base (this is for the rest of the Titan)
Titan_Stock

Put the files from the .RAR files into JSGME's MODS folder. Once in the MODS folder, open up JSGME and then add the files in the order that I said.

Have you put the BlackWolf_Base folder into JSGME? Titan's guns need the BlackWolf_Base folder - the Titan's main guns use the BlackWolf's battleship turrets.

No, no, no, no... You can't have all three of them together. They overwrite each other's files.

Could anyone please give me campaign files? I need only for Blackwolf. Can't start campaign with the ones that Marka uploaded, CTD every time after I select a career. The other links came up empty.
Pretty sure I've installed mod correctly, because this sub is just fine in "War Patrol" and "Quick Missions".

ok finally found out how to install them piece by piece, but anyway there is no engines! i go to any speed and says CANNOT COMPLY for all of them and the super fortress has no active guns or any weapons WTF:/\\!!

I have found something with the shark and that is that even at periscope depth they can see you and i think that is because of the fin cause it counts as part of the hull and it is above the water so if the enemy can see your hull they see you so and any way to fix this?

Having some issues with the campaign files. If I use the campaign file for TMO or FOTRS the game will crash when I select a campaign. The only campaign file that does work is the RSRD.
I was wondering, does it mess up files by installing and uninstalling mods? I don't install the Blackwolf and Titan at the same time (I don't think you are supposed to if I remember correctly). So I have a bad knack for switching between on a regular basis. I thought maybe this would mess up some files.
I use the Steam version of SH4 plus the addon to 1.5 and JSGME to install/uninstall mods.

I had the same problem myself - after much tearing out of hair and empty vodka bottles, I experimented by using the "CareerStart.upc" and "Flotillas.upc" from the Stock Campaign files - it seems to have worked. If you try this, don't forget to back up your original files first. :salute:

I managed to figure out how to "walk" around the Titan. :rock:
I found a camera mod in another, and copied/pasted into Library. Apart from this, I am unable to find :ping: the Kraken mod anywhere on the forums. What happened to this mod?

I have found the Kraken (http://www.gamefront.com/files/21537723/KrakenTMO_rar) mod, TMO is required to use it. Apart from this, the guns on the Shark don't properly retract when submerging. Is there any known bugs/fixes for this?

So far I've tried the Titan in the "battle off samar" and the mission, I forget the name, where you take on the entire fleet that split into the southern and center forces at the philipines, 63% hull damage on the latter one, but still the only one afloat!:arrgh!:
I was able to find all 3 subs and the campaign files via a link provided in this or the Titan thread, although I can't find it now.
I've read both this and the Titan threads completely, and I'm at a loss for how to get the Titan functioning in a campaign.
I can get the Blackwolf and Titan to work in a single mission, and I can start a campaign, but when I actually try to start the patrol in the sub, the game crashes.
Steam version (yes, I know, but it's the only way I could find SH4)
STOCK ver1.5
I tried the following mod load order(s)...
Please Note: With this, I can run a single mission with the Titan.
Titan_base
Titan_stock
Campaign_Mode_stock_1.5
At the suggestion of some in the thread(s), I tried this as alternative:
Blackwolf_base
Titan_base
Titan_stock
Campaign_mode_stock_1.5
WIth both load orders, I told JSGME to overwrite the files it warned were installed by previous mods.
I looked through the .upc files in the mod folder to see if I could find anything that might be causing the trouble, but all appeared normal...
Anybody have any ideas?

Hate to burst your bubbles guys, but Silverwolf hasn't been active on SubSim for years now. It is rather unlikely that he will continue work on his mods or update them anytime soon. I suspect he had Real Life get in the way. Probably safe to assume that any campaign integration with popular megamods (TMO, RFB, RSRDC, etc) contained within Silverwolf's mods are no longer compatible for the most part. There may be some of those mods that have not updated since Silverwolf's compatibility patches, so patches for those mods may still work...
Wherever he is and whatever he's doing, I hope he's doing well. He will be missed. I did some testing for him on the Shark and Interceptor while he was still active.

I realize you may not be replying specifically to me...
and this may come across the wrong way...
BUT, I take from your statement that I should NOT post and inform the modder,(and everyone else) that I like the mod they made...
Silverwolf may return to the forum, see all of the post made by those who have tried his mod(s) since his departure, and decide to, if able, 'return' to the forum.
I simply was trying to give commendation for an excellent mod.
as far as my reply, please note (edited for clarity):

I was asking if ANYONE had any thoughts, not for Silverwolf to update.
Maybe someone else had this problem, and fixed it, and could fill in the blanks that I currently have.
If I'm having this trouble with a stock 1.5 game, then maybe someone else is as well.
I asked in this thread, as MANY forums I have frequented before preferred that you post questions or problems with a mod in that SPECIFIC mod thread.
To keep the forum list from filling with individual help request for basically the same problem that could all be answered at one time.
This way the mod author, admins, moderators, and other helpful folks, could spend their time on more useful task than answering the same question a dozen times.
(Also means the "search" function can actually give you a thread with an answer, rather than 50 with the same question.)
I do not recall reading a "preferred" help request procedure, other than using the search function, in the forum rules that I read upon making my forum login here at subsim.
IF there is a method other than the one I used here, I would greatly appreciate if an admin or moderator could inform me of that procedure.
Travis Reed, I also hope that Silverwolf is doing well, and would like very much for him to return. Based on his mods, he has an excellent grasp of the inner workings of SH4, and simply sharing that info would be a great benefit to newer modders attempting to "get their feet wet".

@BarracudaUAK: I didn't intend to sound rude, or to discourage posting in this thread regarding the addon. I merely wanted to point out that those doing so should not expect a timely reply from the author. Perhaps I could have phrased things better.
As to having any of these mods, unfortunately, I no longer have them. I do have a version of the Interceptor that was updated (see thread (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=167582&page=11)) by giaoyech, but it is already up in the downloads section, and it is also not quite Silverwolf's original work, having been modified. It is probable that giaoyech has a copy of the latest Silverwolf version of Interceptor. Given statements he made while I was testing, he may also have a version of Shark around as well.
Additionally, giaoyech's updated Interceptor is available in the TMO campaign, if installed properly. I seem to remember that Silverwolf did have a compatibility patch for it already. Probably even linked in this thread, though those links are likely dead now.
I used to look around under the hood of various mods to see how they worked, but it's been so long ago I've forgotten much of what I learned. I probably don't even have the tools I used to use installed anymore. If you poke around the threads for Silverwolf's mods, you'll likely find posts of mine where I was helping him test and tweak things.

But in all seriousness, my version is heavily modified. Never thought I would release it, so I forgot what I actually changed, other than made Shark compatible with RFB 2.0 (but not TMO).
Also, there are many inter-dependencies in a lot of files between these three. Right now I won't have time to make it compatible with TMO, nor the time to troubleshoot it in case someone need support.
But if you have trouble with any game files uploaded to filefront, nexusmods managed to obtain a entire clone of firefront server files from a third party who was authorized to archive it before it was shut down. Here's the news article:

Hard to tell with the bloody underline...the one under every user's name next to their posts. Also, I may need to choose a different font...
Edit: After looking through the link to the SH4 files there (I uses Nexus for other games also), I have noted that none of Silverwolf's mods are in the SH4 section. It is entirely possible that they were placed in a different section, if they were even hosted on the site that Nexus backed up.

P.S.: If you saw the news article, you'd realize that's not possible. Nexus had the whole clone which was managed by archive.org with help of original FileFront staffs. However, they never did say when they finished the archive process.
P.P.S: Best way to search FF archive is by title. Description may not be up-to-date, and author names are lost unless someone manually reclaimed them.

I saw that one and had my hopes dashed as it isn't the NSS Shark.
FF wasn't a particularly good hosting site. It is possible that Silverwolf's mods did not have any information on which game they were for included, which means the Nexus team would have to figure it out.
However, it is more likely that they simply have not gotten around to adding Silverwolf's mods yet. They probably have a large number of files to go through and slot into their system. Perhaps they will show up in time...
I do know how to search the Nexus, I've been using it for years... I also went through every single file they have for SH4 (as of the edit to my last post) and did not find any of Silverwolf's mods.

Seems to be the main problem with a "typed" form of communication... Connotation, Emphasis, Stresses and Inflection all seem to "get lost" in the process.
Even handwriting can impart this, but the cold "font" of a computer just drowns it all out.
I didn't intend to sound "rude", I was trying to "dig in" and say "this is what I meant"...
but in the process I appear to have "pushed back", and been a bit "offensive".
My apologies, several forums lately I've been getting sarcastic, arrogant and downright rude replies, so I'm probably in a "shoot first" mindset lately.
I'll try to be a bit more specific in my post from now on, so as to avoid any further misunderstandings.
If you poke around the threads for Silverwolf's mods, you'll likely find posts of mine where I was helping him test and tweak things.
I do recall some of the post, but I'll have to go back through and give them another look when I have a bit more time.
First pass through the threads, I was looking for an active download link, and internal, technical aspects tend to get lost when you are not looking at the files specifically mentioned...
I'll take another look at the threads and see if I can find the info and maybe get it working.

I should point out that I do have the Titan, Blackwolf and Shark downloaded, and the Campaign files as well...
I dug through them a bit, but at this point I'm still filtering through all of SH4 "reworked" file structure, so the problem may be starring me in the face AND screaming at me, and I'm passing right over it.
SH3 I had a really good grasp on, but the change in "what controls what" has me looking at the 9D2 and comparing SH4's files to SH3's files to see 'what' goes 'where', as I have the time.
Things have been really busy lately, so I'm behind on pretty much everything game related that I was doing, even just playing.

i really want to have this mod but i never got the chance because of two reasons: first i didnt know how to mod it, second when i knew how to mod it i couldnt download it! i would love if you uploaded in a working link sometime:subsim:

And no, I don't upload to MediaFire, I don't support MediaFire and won't ever recommend that anyone use it. That's Subsim's job and I brought these mods home where all Silent Hunter mods belong. Now, unlike MediaFire, they are easy for anyone to find and download.

Went into the downloads section and tried downloading some mods. Decided to go back to SH4, missing some boat hunting.
Well, I tried to download certain mods (Silverwolf's mods to be more specific).
But I can't dl any of them. Some files I can dl, like the megamods (FOTRS). But any mod that is specific to a playable ship is a no go for me. Subsim gives me a message saying "not logged in" (Which I am) and kicks me to the login screen. If I login in there it just tells me I have to wait "x" time to try to dl anything again.
So I'm a little confused on this. Some files are working, and others aren't.
I will say I am on satellite internet now (I hate it). But that doesn't explain the problem.
