Jamimadrid has weighed in on another thread that his Keymapper application is limited to reassigning the game commands. If the command desired is does not exist in the game, the Keymapper program cannot create it. This is not the end of the story. Apparently Silent Hunter 3 captains have access to a program called Setkey that allows addiitonal programing of shorcut key strokes that perfrom a wide variety of functions. As I understand it, one is able to use Setkey to program for the purpose of assigning a key to fire salvos, open and close multiple torpedoe doors, go to TC at various levels, rearrange the crew, fire all weapons on the deck, etc. Such a program for SH4, if possible, would be invaluable to its captains.

Unfortunately, irish (whose name is associated with Setkey program download for SH3), has not converted it to SH4, although he thinks it is possible to do so. Further, there does not appear to be a tutorial for the program, although, after reviewing various posts, it is a certainty that some captains in SH3 are using the program. So, it is likely someone could provide an explanation for other forum members. I could not find a tutorial for Setkeys either in the forum or on the web. Nor could I understand the programing videos for beginners for AutoHotHotkey that I watched on the web. Apparently, AutoHotkey can do something similar to Setkey in terms of reworking the keyboard and setting up new commands. If someone could tackle this problem, that individual would make a great contribution to the game. Unfortunately, I am not that person, as I lack even a basic understandings of such things. A tutorial is needed, with the understanding that there may be a lot of possible "fixes" to the game which may be different depending on the needs, wishes, etc. of the different players.

Here is my basic wish list of shortcut keys

Crash dive to periscope depth;
Open all torpedoe doors;
Fire salvos (bays 1-2, bays 3-4, etc.)
Maximum TC;
TC set to a search level (around 1500 TC);
Fire all deck weapons at will.

There must be more, but that is all that I can think of.

Macros rule. Could use some. Don't like wasting 5 minutes setting up all my torps for a spread or broadside. My crew of ten digits and a mouse are limited.
