Playing only SH3 or GWX3

Is there a way of retaining the original SH3 for separate play while having another file with GWX3 for playing that mod? Is it just a matter of loading SH3 into separate files and only running the GWX3 mod on one of those 2 files? Probably been answered and I just haven't been able to find it. Also, did research on the umark for GWX but am having no luck bringing it back. Is it best to copy it off the original SH3 and then pasting it back once the GWX3 mod has been loaded?
