Open Subname.sim with S3D.

1) open s3d
2) open Boat.sim (boat being the sub you want to mod)
3) open node: Unit_Submarine
4) edit chunk: E_Propulsion----> Max speed=**

hope this helps!

I understand the request for additional submerged speed. Every little bit helps!

It would be nice to see a mod that changed the graphic for the speed indicator to add a new position as emergency when surfaced. Flank speed and emergency were two very different things. Was there an "emergency speed" for both submerged (battery) AND surface (diesel power)? Not sure there was come to think about it.

Is there a different setting for submerged and surfaced speed, or is one a percentage of the other?

Just saying. :rotfl2:

How interesting. Here is a picture of the engine order telegraph from USS Bowfin, and I don't see an "Emergency" speed setting.

As for the speed settings, I assume you mean in-game. Here is how it looks in the Gato Cfg file:

[EngineProperties]
AllStop=0.00
AheadSlow=0.40
AheadOneThird=0.57
AheadStandard=0.80
AheadFull=0.94
AheadFlank=1.00
BackSlow=-0.26
BackStandard=-0.40
BackFull=-0.53
BackEmergency=-0.66

4) edit chunk: E_Propulsion----> Max speed=**

You can also change the values of:

eng_power
eng_rpm

This will be a submarine quieter.
I had already tested 6,500 and 230 rev / min on a Tench. It works beautifully, but remember this slows down as a bar of soap in a bathtub.
