I am working slowly thru the mods for SHV and wanted to ask for advice about the ocean water...there are a lot of white caps even in the harbour and the waves were huge again even in the harbour.... i tried the harbour start for the PQ 17 mission and felt like i was in a whirlpool with all the whitecaps.

is there suggestions to get more realistic water? without constant white waves? thanks for any idea on this.

Foam caps on the waves is an effect related to windspeed I think, so next time you leave port in a low wind you probably won't see them - it'll change as the weather changes.

Dynamic Environment 5.0 and w_clear's Environment mod both make changes to the waves, with Dynamic Environment having 3 different versions. I'd start there.

:salute:

Unfortunatly none of the SH game reflect the reality, which is that wave buildup takes hundreds of miles of travel for the wind. Harbors are built in bays, which means that there is no time for wave buildup, which is why we have the term "safe harbor" (or "safe haven"). There should never be more than heavy ripples in a harbor unless a hurricane is blowing through.

And they've never gotten it right, and no mod made has fixed it.

Thank you Sailor Steve and also Orpheus, ys i have found that Dynamic mod it looks very nice.

Sailor Steve, thank you, yes i have sailed from the harbours of many oceans and never seen the white topped waves like there were at the start of this mission lol, not even in the North Sea..which is very wild in winter.. I will not worry about it...just wondered and thank you again for the help and explanation. I have not had much time until recently to actually go to sea so this is exciting for me and it brings back many memories.... but there is a lot to do watching the boat, and directing the men, and carrying out the missions. It is wonderful how much all there is that seems so real. Danke to all and thank you again.
