View Full Version : bow sensors in narrow band/biologicals?
1) My bow sensors dont' show up in the narrowband waterfall. Meaning the upper "actual" waterfall does not show anything in the waterfall. Not sure if it's been like this always. I've recently upgraded to lwami 3.11. The "actual" waterfall does show up for towed arrays contact, just no the spherical. Speed is 5 knots. Line is thick on broadband indicating contact is close.
2) How do i ID a biologic? I detect them with a thick line in broadband. But nothing shows up on the "actual" waterfall both bow and towed array. Only way i knew it was a biologic is to show truth
3) Also, I've been downloading addon missions. Are there any issues with running them on Lwami 3.11?

1. Check your frequency scale. It also might just be that the higher frequency tonals just aren't strong enough to show. The TA searches a lower frequency range so it can detect tonals at longer ranges than the spherical array.
2. I don't know what you mean by the "actual" waterfall, but biologics are typically given away by the audio track in the broadband. Biologics also lack narrowband signatures, so for a strong contact that can be a giveaway.
3. Probably not, but platform capabilities can be very different, which can mean missions can play very differently.
1) It's not the frequency scale, doesn't work at all scales. It could be just that as you said the tonals aren't as strong with the spherical vs TA. I'll try to get super close to a ship and see if i can get narrow band readings.
2) i guess i meant the narrowband for biologics. Gotchya, so they don't have a narrowband profile even when close. That makes sense cuz that was exactly what i was seeing. Altho i did not hear the audio track in broadband. I heard it when i clicked on it in nav map with show truth on, but nothing in broadband. I'll go back and try to listen to make sure.

Adjust your computer's or DW's gamma settings (in the .ini file). If its too low you will not see NB tonals.
actually, i did have to set it before because i couldn't see the ta lines on the ffg. i have it set to 0.8

how do you set the gamma in the "ini"??
here,s what mine has..
[Graphics]
.MapStretch No
.ScreenStretchQuality 3
.ParticleMax 500
.ParticleRate 5
.LocalLights Yes
.TransparentWater No
.WantRain Yes
.Disable3D No
.Want3DClouds Yes
.WantVegetation No
.AdapterID 0
.DeviceID 0
.ModeID 4
.DetailTextures No
.BlendTextures Yes
.Caustics Yes
.WaterParticles Yes
.WaterReflectionQuality 3
.WaterQuality 3
.WaterDrawMethod 1
.CameraFOV 60
.WantShadows No
.ModelDetailTex No
.RunInWindow No
.Gamma ""
.SoftwareCursor No
is this the right area to adjust the gamma?
reason for asking is i can,t read a thing on narrowband...torpedos come out of nowhere and get me...i,m wondering if this thread applies to this also.

Well, you do have to select/scan the bearing in the bottom window on the narrowband screen. It can't analyse those frequencies if it is listening in the wrong direction. Sorry if you allready knew this, but otherwise I have no clue.

Look twords the bottom of the section you posted. see .Gamma"", put a number in the "", like:
.Gamma ".8"
