I presume you got permission from Flakmonkey (and others where needed) to include his (and/or their) work in your release? That would be be something in your favor, at least.

For those of you who are wondering, pditty here started this thread to announce the release of a mod he says he did that is based on or includes work done by Flakmonkey and others, and which actually includes the entire FM New Interiors mod. In his post he praised himself for releasing the beta version of it, unlike those other "selfish" modders who refuse to share their work or mislead the community with callous promises about new mods that they never bother to finish or release. And then finished it off with a crude P.S. about one member in particular.

I presumed to point out that his attitude wasn't doing him any good, and to ask if he'd obtained permission from FM and others to include their work in his release.

He stated that he had not, and that as far as his attitude goes he is only dishing out what he'd been getting from others.

In the time it took me to write and edit a short reply to that, he deleted all his posts in the thread.

Gosh, I guess he's just like all those other "selfish" modders he talks about, denying the community the fruits of his labor over what - l'il ol' me asking a simple question and offering some friendly advice? :rotfl2:

I've only been playing SH3 for a couple years, and I really enjoy tinkering with the game, but my knowledge of how to do that is still fairly limited. You might also want to consider the fact that not everybody's self-esteem hinges on their SH3 modding skills. I would suggest looking up "projection" in addition to everything else but, alas, there are only so many things one little mind can take in over the course of one day.

Thank you kindly, but that was just a matter of comparing one file where they worked with files where they didn't and seeing what the difference might be. And I *still* never got the new map textures I did to show up in the game, so I might have to go back and revisit that some day.

Especially if I take a liking to the Type IIs cuz IIRC that's where the problem was most glaring.

Now I´m modding at a slower pace. My decision, isn´t it. Don´t tell me or anybody else the right time to release. To quote KL, "It´s ready when it´s ready!" Releasing immature mods will do no good to anybody.

Besides most of us have a real life and job too. And that´s what comes first. Modding is only a hobby, and this is how it should remain. When the hobby turns into work causing stress, it is no hobby any longer.

Most important it is bad manners to insult others, regardless of age/maturity or gender.

i can confirm that Pditty8811 gave FULL and PROPER credits to all the authors of mods he used. i read his post (before removing) and i can confirm that there was NOTHING wrong with it exept MAYBE the part that he didn't ask permissions from Flakmonkey or DD but that is one other story that has to do ONLY with Flakmonkey or DD ( although i believe that none of them would have said no to permissions).

I hope something is learned from this thread and people stop being "a-holes" to new modders in the future. We all could have finally got a fore torpedo room for the Type VII, but no more. No, for the most part the older modders are glad to share and even say so in their readmes and release threads. This didn't happen because he wanted to extend their mods, it happened because he called them names in his original post and accused them of being selfish. It happened because he attacked them first.
