Hello all, I've first signed up to Subsim in 2007, I was actually a big fan of Silent Hunter Commander edition, I've been playing it for many years since 97, an old friend pf mine , an ex navy seal joined me while playing it for many times, he knew some about submarines from their joint training and joint maneuvers.

I kept an old PC just for playing the game, never tried the whole dos box thing on windows XP.

I joined this forum on 2007 when I found out about the forum while looking for some help with SH4, the previous versions SH II and SH III were a big disappointment for me, nationality wise and simulator wise, unfortunately my hardware wasn't adequate for the game so I had to put it aside.

Lately, after upgrading my hardware and a random visit to a naval museum which had on display a submarine and many WWII items like TDC and so on I felt the need to come back and give it a try.

After doing some serious reading in the forum I decided to include some mods like RSRDC, RFB 2.0, OTC 1.5 and give it a run, I hope in a couple of days I'll have it set and running.

Hi, I'm Mike, live near Ft Belvoir, VA south of Washington DC. Have been playing SH 3, 4 and 5 off an on since 3 came out. Getting back into it and focusing on SH 4 at the moment. Tried SH 5, but I really want to drive an American sub, not a Nazi sub, so back to SH 4 for the moment.

Am in the process of mod'ing SH 4, pretty much settled on RSRD since I lost torpedo tracking in RFB for some reason, i like having that.

TMO seems like it may be a bit challenging for me, but it sounds fantastic for our very experienced captains.. I may need to wait a while for that one.

Just looking to upgrade the graphics now so the environment looks as good as it can, including the Japanese ships. Looking for upgraded graphics for them.

I have posted several times on this forum, but that was a year or more ago. Really appreciated all the assistance and clarifications given to me then, a great help.

I'm former Navy (SWO) and was looking for more realistic ship/sub sims. I wish I had this game years ago when I was trying to learn TMA for real. This game seems about as good as you can get using public open-source information. Thanks for the info and downloads. Irene is now passed and opening with no damage in my neighborhood.

Not exactly new here, but been away for a while, but got the urge to start playing again, and as always Subsim, provides the best mods, guides etc.

This site has made playing SHIII, with Grey Wolve's mod, and Dangerous Waters a real joy. Just recently purchased SHV and I can see that without this community the sim would be dead...after looking at all the mods and tutorials I think this may become my fave. Again, thanks to all who contribute to making this one of the best sites.

Slightly OT...

I'm having some difficulty with downloads. Even though I've yet to download anything, I keep getting the message that I've exceeded my 3 download/day limit and I need to post on the forum to introduce myself and that will automatically raise my d/l limit. Well, I did introduce myself (post #335) and I'm still getting the 3 download limit error msg even though I still haven't d/l anything.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Throwing out a quick hello (yes in part due to needing to download more than 1 file per day ... a good hook to get the silent unwashed to post ) and also to confess my total addiction to SH3, some start of an addiction to SH4 and pondering if my marriage could survive adding SH5.

I went into therapy to recover from this (aka RL stuff and trying some online gaming) - and am pleased to report that the therapy failed - totally. I escaped over the wire and came right back to SH3 and I am reloading everything right now. It is still for me THE best game "I" have ever played, thanks to all the mods developed. A huge thank you too to those you run SUBSIM. The combination of developers and this forum turned a good game into that all time classic.

Couldn't find the September thread so I hope this will do. I found subsim because it is the main place for mods for the silent hunter series. Played Silent Hunter 4 a lot but looking forward to Silent Hunter 5 now the issues it has have been ironed out. Thanks for everyone's good work.

Hi All. Just a quick intro, have been a member for a while, but havent got
round to making the intro thing. Have enjoyed all the SH's. plus, I think it
was called Destroyer command, 2 players and you had to take turns at the screen. Up top the Destroyer Captain and down below the Submariner.
Probably on the Commodore 64......... I'm not called 'Pop'. for nothing....

Anyway intro made and thanks go to the guys from subsim who made the
playing of these games a lot more enjoyable.

Hello All, I found this site by accident when looking for news related to Naval/Submariner News, Then discoved this form. Read some threads I Discovered the Silent Hunter series. I was excited to hear that their was a modern Submariner Sim, But had to wait a while till i could get a replacement laptop.."long story short, That old computer said Hello to my .44:D" Its enough to run SH5 in almost full glory and i truly enjoy the game. And the mods on here that i found will surely double the fun. and lastly i wouldn't be a Canadian if i didn't do the most sterotypical things we "Canucks" do....Eh? :smug:
