Are these MG34's realistic on these turms? Did they really have them on the uboats? Seems like their too bulky to keep down below. Or is this just a sign that the modder has too much testasterone?

Probably used for approaching lone merchants.Getting close enough to board is risky business and I would think alot of weapons is a good idea.Anyone can peek around a corner and wipe out a whole deck of submariners.

And these were unmounted before they submerged?

The community have been feeding of the 'testasterone' of the modder and the individual who supplied the kit to make the mod possible quite happily for some time now.

Usually yes. ;)

They were not mounted every time the sub surfaced, but like Wolf said, when there was need.
Having to dismount them every time would cost precious seconds!
